Finally made it to the Silos

November 9, 2015

I had to miss the grand opening at Magnolia Market because I had to travel with Greg to help him out.  I gave my grand opening tickets to my dear friend and supporter of my blog Tammy. She had a blast and brought me back a grand opening t-shirt. Greg held true to his promise, though, to take me to Waco this weekend. Our friends, Tim and Karen, went with us and we had a blast!

We started the day at a place called Heritage Homesteads. This place is so calm and inviting. It’s run by a Pentecostal family. Everything is home-made from quilts, iron work, pottery and the restaurant food is over the top. This place is such a hidden secret. We found out about it when we visited Magnolia Market a few months back. We were given a map of Jo and Chip’s favorite places and it was on there. We will visit this place many more times. Hoping to take a pottery class with Karen in the summer.

Do you recognize this beautiful woman? She is Joanna’s beautiful mom! It was so lovely to meet her!

After a fabulous lunch we headed to the Magnolia Market Silos. I was so excited to see the new store. There were lots of people in line waiting to go in but we only had to wait about 20 minutes. As I expected it was so well done and full of beautiful items. I walked the store twice and carefully selected what I wanted to buy. I bought a few  special items with my gift card from my fabulous friends Nancy, Nicole and Amber. Thanks gym gals!!  The silos aren’t quiet finished but you can tell they are working on them and have already added the Magnolia trademark letters.

We left the silos and had a light dinner at Manny’s Mexican Cafe on the River. Great food, drinks and view of the river. Also another must stop  place if you go to Waco. We had such a great time laughing and talking about old times as we have been friends with Tim and Karen for over 15 years.  They were our neighbors in Lucas.  We left Manny’s and went to see the new Bond movie.  That was the low point of the weekend; it’s not such a great movie.

Sunday was full of fun,  starting with a trip to Common Ground coffee shop! Unfortunately they were closed until noon.  So off we went to find a Starbucks and you don’t have to look far in any direction in Texas to find one.  I got a great surprise from an old student Sarah while in Waco! She saw on Facebook that I was in Waco (she lives there) and she asked me to come visit her in her new home.  We went by it was great to see her all grown up and living with her cute little family.  She still looks like the little Sarah that came to my studio for art.

We headed out-of-town and stopped at the Czech’s bakery in West Texas.  That place is dangerous for people trying to be healthy!  I picked up cheese bread and a blueberry dessert bread for my son and his girlfriend. Yummy! We decided to eat lunch in West and found this amazing little place called West Roadhouse.  The food was so good! I wish I could have eaten more.  As we left, Karen found a wallet on the ground outside.  Greg took it in the restaurant and looked around until he found the guy that matched the driver’s license picture.  It belonged to a guy that had a large family of kids from Missouri.  They had no idea he had lost his wallet.  As we got in our car the wife came running out and tried to give us money. We refused and she got tears in her eyes.  It wasa sweet  moment for us all. I’m glad we could bless them and find it for them.

Before we got out of West Karen and I visited a great little shop called, Olde Czech Corner Antiques.  Karen and I both will return to this little shop because there is so much to look at and great prices as well.  They have it all from furniture to books, dishes and many pretties to love and fill your home.  I bought Mercy glass Christmas ornaments and a little blue rooster.  Karen bought a cardinal bird and a tray.  We would have bought so much more but we were in the Mini Cooper.  We filled it up to the top in the back on this trip.

I love to take these overnight trips with my husband and friends.  We loved every minute of it and are planning more adventures in the future.  This will more than likely be the last trip for the next 8 weeks as I prepare for the holidays.  I love to be at home and with my family and friends during the holiday time.  I’m so excited for this year and what is coming.  There are so many changes coming for my family, friends and Blue Happy Living in the next few weeks and in 2016. It’s so hard to keep a cover on it but I will be sharing this with you as soon as I can.  Hoping to share in early 2016 so keep on reading and watching for the new updates.

Thank you all for reading my blog and supporting Blue Happy Living.  I love sharing all of this journey with you and the growth of Blue Happy Living as it moves beyond a blog.  Go be Blue Happy!
