Pickles, Unexpected Storage and More

January 27, 2016

Organizing  is just organizing until you do it in a decorative way.  Don’t just stack the towels in the bathroom in  a pile next to the tub.  Put the towels in a beautiful basket rolled not folded.  Find a paper towel holder that is up right and has a fancy top and keep you bracelets stacked up the pole.  If your bedside table is piled up with your personal items then add storage up the wall.  By adding all kinds of things like baskets, small cabinets and even shelves gives you more than enough storage.  So many options to pick from, so I wanted to share a few of what I’m doing in my home.

In my new studio space I needed a place to store all of my little items that I don’t use everyday but still need them handy when I do.  This is where the pickles come in to play.  I have an addiction to pickles they are my go to treat at night when I want that salty taste.  The pickles I like come in this great mason looking jar.  As I finish off a jar a week I started saving the jars because I knew they would come in handy.  In my studio I have an open ceiling to the rafters this create a shelf on the edge of the wall.  I filled the pickle jars with all my notions I use when I’m doing a piece of art work or furniture.  They are the perfect size to fit on the shelf and they are a great way to organize. Oh and don’t forget they are FREE my kinda price, any jar can be used.

In Greg’s poker room the poker chips were everywhere after a poker game. It drove me crazy because Greg would never put them up.  I would let it lay there for a day or so and then put them all in their cases.  Ok reality is I would let them stay out until the next morning.  I said I wanted to be honest on my blog so that is the honest truth.  I have shown this on the blog before but it is such a good storage solution I wanted to share it again so if you missed it.  I went to Hobby Lobby and bought these candy jar’s.  I lined them up along the back of his dry bar and filled them with chips.  It’s the perfect solution so when the game is over they just drop their chips in the jar.

Next to Greg’s bed his night table is a mess with all kinds of stuff.  He has business cards, iPad, phone, wallet and well you get my point.  I can’t stand the mess and I have to see it every time I go to the master bathroom.  I have tried many things to fix this mess but there hasn’t been a way to control all his things so that it doesn’t seem messy.  I also tried a large night stand with a large drawer. That was a night mare because he just filled it with so much stuff and you couldn’t find anything.  One glorious day at Hobby Lobby I came across this great little cabinet that had a place for everything.  Cards in the little drawer at the top, cubbies for his glasses, wallet and phone and a tall slot for his iPad and books.  It’s all nice and neat now and I’m back to my Blue Happy place.

Storage and organizing doesn’t have to be boring.  By using different storage options and making them fun you can fill your home with a bunch of Blue Happy! I hope that you find those ways to organize that make you happy. Go have some pickles and be Blue Happy. 🤓
