Love and Friendship

February 15, 2016

Valentines Day turned into a Valentines weekend for us. Greg brought me flowers to school on Friday, took me to estate sales on Saturday followed by lunch at Peggy Sue’s BBQ and then we grilled on Saturday evening and sat by the pool. Sunday was also a great day not really doing much but being together at home. I’ve been in love with Greg since he first wrote me a letter in 1985. Every event in our lives good or bad has made me fall more and more in love with him. Most people don’t know our story but some do. We were pen pals while he was in Germany. His brother gave me his address and I wrote him.

I wanted to go to Paris so bad and Derek told me that his little brother goes there all the time. I hesitated for about a month before I sent my first snail mail but boy am I glad I did. Greg and I wrote for about a year before he came home on leave in April of 1986. It was a whirl wind because we got married in June of 1986. I’ve never looked back as we come up on 30 years of marriage this year. I’m always amazed at how he can make me happy, calm and reel me back in when I’m off on a tangent. He makes me laugh and giggle most everyday. I love that he loves Cooper and Cherry as much as me and because of me. He has been and is to this day the best Daddy to his kids. He loves them but has a firm hand when he needs to. I’m the wild card and he is the calm. I’m the goof and he is the reason. We have seen each other at our very best and at our very worst. We have both done things and with a sad heart look each other in the eyes and forgiven. We have been richer and poorer so many times. We have had unhealthy moments and healthy moments but never once left each others sides. I’m a blessed girl with God honoring me with this man. I look forward to aging with him and holding his hand. My prayer everyday is God allow us to have many more years together to laugh, giggle, cry, forgive and live life to its fullest.

Greg has given me many gifts over the years. My children are my greatest gift ever. I see so much of their dad in them the good and the stubborn. Greg gave me cooper 3 years ago this March. I was going through a tough time because my sweet little Frostie was dying. He was my little schoodle dog I had for 15 years. Also at the same time our youngest was moving out on his own. Greg got me in the car and drove me to no where way out in Texas and bought me Cooper. I tell him almost every night he is the best gift ever and I love him so much. Greg always replies and never looks up by saying you said that about all your dogs LaTonya. Oh well I loved them all that much.
My life to most isn’t a fairy tale. It has had very bright moments and very ugly dark moments but I’m blessed because of all the good and bad. The path that God put me on in my eyes is delightful. Valentines day should be everyday not the cards and flowers but the hand holding, love and open hearts. I’m gonna try to hold on to this feeling of love and compassion with those that cross my path. I hope that your weekend was full of love and you find it in your heart to love beyond this one day. I hope that you have a very loved Blue Happy Monday.
