Color Out of My Comfort Zone

March 23, 2016

I’m deep into this massive redo and I’m burning the candle at both ends. When this week is over I will be so tired but happy to have finished what seems to be the never-ending redo. I mean wow 3 rooms and the front of the house in just 2 weeks. I must be crazy or a bit wacky, I’m sure a bit of both.

So on Monday I started the redo of the 2 pieces of furniture that will be in Guest bedroom #1. I have had both these pieces for sometime, but never really like them because they were a bit boring. First is an old dresser that my daughter had in her home but didn’t need anymore. I stored it in my guest room not sure if I was going to keep it. I guess now I’m gonna keep it because it has become a part of the design. It will be great for storage. The second piece is an old secretary that I used as my desk for a while until I moved my computer in my master bedroom. I love this piece and wanted to make it a part of this room. It will be great for guest and Ethan to use when visiting. Both of these pieces have great bones and the hardware is to die for. As always the price was great one piece free and the other I bought at Rustysbydesignauction.com for $55.

Guest bedroom #1 is done in a Americana style decor. I love the red plaid valance and bed skirt. The head-board made from old pallets and the eclectic decorations. So when it came time to find a paint color for the furniture I wanted to pick something that was a bit different. Not the same black or creme white I use so many times. I spent a better part of an hour looking over the color samples at Lowes. When I finally picked a color Greg wasn’t to happy but, he agreed to let me be the artist and go with it. So I picked a lovely smoked navy blue. It is so beautiful and will go right along with the Americana theme.

I have started the process of making over the furniture and they are going to me stunning. I’m not finished with them  but they will be the star of Fridays blog. I can’t wait to show you these 2 pieces along with pieces from Guest room #2 I’m keeping that color a big secret but its gonna be a stunner as well.

I’m working hard to bring you a week of reveals. Starting Next Tuesday the reveals begin. It’s gonna be a week of Blue Happiness for me. I love to share with you all of these projects it just makes me so happy. I hope your Wednesday is awesome and Blue Happy! I’ll blog you tomorrow.
