Summer Art Project #5 Let’s bag it all up!

June 30, 2016

Doing 5 art projects in 5 days how much fun was this.  Today is the last art project in this 5 project series and its a fun project that you can keep or give as a gift.  I wanted to do a project that the kids could get a little free style and do their own design.  I have done a pattern that you can follow or you can sit out the paints and so GO! Let the creativity begin.

SUPPLIES:

  • Canvas bag (I bought one at Hobby Lobby for $1.99)
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Card board or poster board for the inside of bag while you paint
  • Black Tulip paint

STEP 1:

Prep your area and grab your supplies so you are all ready to do the project. First things first put your card board or poster board inside the canvas bag.  This will insure that the back side of the bag doesn’t stick to the front side when you paint.  If you want to paint only in a small square you can tape off a square using masking tape.  I decided to just paint on the entire front of the bag.

STEP 2:

You are ready to paint now so let your creativity roll out.  I did flowers and the pictures will take you step my step as to how to do these flowers.  If you want to just do your own thing that is fantastic.  Try to think of what the bag will be used for and create a bag that will fit that activity.  Maybe its going to be used for a pool bag so paint things that work with that .  If it’s a gift then paint something that the person you are gifting it to loves.  The creativity is so open to what you want to do.  I would love to see your bags so send me a picture.

STEP 3:

At this point I used the black Tulip paint to add the stems, grass and leaves.  I didn’t get very detailed with it at all just kinda did it free hand and a bit loopy.  I also used this paint to add a bit to the flowers so it pulled it all together.  The tulip paint is great for writing names, words or verses to the bag to make it more personal.

That’s it! Let the bag dry over night and then you can enjoy using it.  Or if you want to extend this project you can flip over the bag. When its dry then paint the other side.  It’s a 2 for 1 project if you do that.   I loved these projects and I hope you did as well.  Fridays blog is the BIG REVEAL OF WHAT HAPPENED ON JUNE 1ST THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING. Make sure you read the blog and find out what happened.  Have a Blue Happy Thursday the weekend is almost here.
