Pray for Dallas

July 8, 2016

Todays blog about the reveal of my Christmas closet was moved to 7/12 due to the events in Dallas Texas last night.  I hope that you will pray for our city as we put things back together.

Last nightly husband and a friend decided to go out for dinner. We had a great dinner at my favorite place to eat. It was a great evening. When we got back to our house we all sat on the patio and enjoyed talking about how funny the dogs were, how  hot it’s been and lots of other mindless things. We had all left our phones in the house so we were unaware of what was going on just a few miles up the road from our home. When we got in the house Greg and I got ready for bed it was around 10. We turned on the TV as we always do and there it was the city of Dallas under gun fire. WHAT, how can this happen just up the road from me. These things don’t happen in our city or state it is always somewhere else. It did happen and it has caused my heart to break.

Facebook is flooded with people saying all kinds of things. Some so mean and some just asking for prayer. The reality of last night is that 5 people went to work and are now gone. No longer with their families, no longer a person on this earth. Many others are in critical condition fighting to stay here.  I’m so very sad for the families that have lost a love one. All I can think about is what they left unfinished. I’m sure that each one of them had plans today, this weekend or next week. Those plans go unfinished because someone who was anger decided to take their lives. I turned off the news around 1am and I have not turned it on today. I have no idea who the people are that were killed. I don’t know if they are male or female, their race or faith, I don’t know their life styles, young or old. I don’t care I just decided to pray for them and their families. We all have a heart and blood that pumps through it. We all have a soul and a brain that thinks. There is NO difference in any of us. Why are there are some people who think they are better because their skin color or their partner preference.  It doesn’t matter at all in the end we will all be judged the same.

We all make the same mistake every day. We just expect that tomorrow is gonna be there. We fight with our family, have cross words with a friend and rush around forgetting to hug and say things like I love you to our love ones. We have made getting to the next event of the day more important than taking the time to stop and hear what is going on around us. I’m guilty of this more than I want to admit. The value we place on our time has become a bit messed up. We don’t look at what the real value is and that is time spent with the one’s we love and not rushing from event to event.

Not all men and  women who are police are dangerous.  Yes there has been some question as to some of the events that involve police officers but you can not judge the entire force over these events.  I’m a teacher and we all know that in the news on a regular basis that teachers are charged with assaulting students.  I don’t judge all teachers on that account.  My point in there are good and bad people in all areas of every field.  We can’t put every one in the same big pot, stir it up and call it bad.  I for one love knowing that the police are there to call and depend on if I need them.  I know several  police man and women and they are all loving people doing a job that is dangerous.  They don’t know if this will be their last shift, I’m sure hoping and praying they will see the ones they love again.  WOW what a way to live your life.  We need to appreciate these people and the sacrifices  they lay out each day.

If you look around we all have people placed in our lives to bless us. Take the time to cherish those people. I’m not saying don’t make plans, to stop living I’m just saying that we need to put down our phones and hear the people in our lives. Be in the moment at hand because it might be our last moment or their last moment.Maybe we might be able to stop some of the madness because we took time to care and love. Enjoy our Freedom to love each other.

There is a black cloud over Dallas today. The Blue skies are over shadowed by this event. There a families all over the metroplex crying. There are police families worried about letting their loved one go back to a job that is so highly threatened right now. So much to over come so much to pray about. Try to make this a day to turn things around. Love your family and friends. Be in the moment not just at the moment. God Bless you all!
