PART 1 My Life Style, Supplements, Diet and Exercise

July 13, 2016

Wow lots and lots of questions have come in to Blue Happy Living blog about the July 1st post.  As I predicted you sent many commits of love and support.  Many of you had ask questions on what my exercise routine is, what supplements I take and what do I do to keep on track.  Only one person was negative with a snide commit and here is my message to that person……………..I got nothing, nope nothing other than I said a prayer for you that you can find happiness.

Weight loss is about finding what works for you.  There will never be a product, surgery, exercise or  program that works the same for everybody.  We are all unique and different in many ways.  There are products out there that can assist you in getting your health issues in order so if loosing weight is what you want it can happen.  It is important to understand your own body and what happens to your body from the inside out.  Read lots of information, google google google before you decide what is for you.  A great place to start is at your doctor having a physical.  It’s hard to start there sometimes because you might not want to hear what they need to say.  I was mortified when I was told you are morbidly obese.  I couldn’t even let those words soak into my brain.  I excepted what he said and fought against it and I won.  It was and isn’t always easy, there have been many ups and downs over the past 3 1/2 years.  Just this morning I had a melt down leaving the gym.  My head was saying yes, my heart was saying yes but my body isn’t ready to hit the gym and lift the weights I did before surgery.  It really up set me to hear and watch the other girls do what I did just 6 weeks ago. I did weenie weights off to the side and got myself all in a teaze.  Of course they were very supportive and tried hard to comfort me.  I love them for that but I still wished I could be back to where I was.  I’ll get there one 5am workout at a time.

Here are the question you sent and my honest answers:

  1. Do you take vitamins? Oh my goodness YES and lots of them.  I was never a believer in vitamins before I started this journey but now I’m the queen of vitamins in my house.  I never thought they worked because I would by them take them and then stop after about a month thinking these things do nothing.  My bariatric doctor demanded we start taking them daily 3 months before the surgery.  I had promised I would do what ever they said to do and do it faithfully.  So I did and I was surprised at what happened.  I started vitamins in late July of 2012, had my first band surgery in October of 2012 and somewhere around November of 2013 I realized what these vitamins did for me.  I had not been sick for over a year.  That’s right an art teacher of K-12 had not gotten a cold or a stomach virus in a year.  I’ve had maybe 2 small colds in 31/2 years. I take all gummy vitamins because it is easier on my small stomach.  I take a women multi vitamin, B complex, B12, C (I double up on that), D3, Omega3, Heart health cholesterol, Biotin for hair & nails, calcium (because I don’t do dairy) I take these every morning and night.  The only one that I over take is the C. I will say that my plastic surgeon also advised on the multivitamin and C before surgery.  I was so glad I was already on a plan.  I can say I have had   blood testing  issues in the past and my body was very low on many of these but now my blood work is golden.
  2. Besides vitamins do you do any of the products out there today that everyone is selling?  There are many things out there on the internet and we are all bombed by these products on Facebook and insta gram.  There are 2 products that I use and live by everyday.  One of those products is PLEXUS.  Yep I take it everyday without fail.  This product is amazing and it has helped me more than  I thought it had.  I took Plexus for a year before I had  surgery.  After my surgery on June 1st I was up and cooking dinner for my husband on the 5th day.  I believe it was the Plexus that helped me recover so fast.   Before Plexus I craved sugar and would have the shakes in the afternoon. I would load up on carbs and sugar to stop them.  Once I started Plexus this went away about a week in and by 3 weeks completely went away.  There is so much research about Plexus and I can give you the name of the person I buy it from.  She is an amazing lady and a Diamond in the Plexus company.  If you want to improve your daily health this product is a great place to start. www.shopmyplexus.com/janahooten
  3. What is the second product I use?  Well that is Juice Plus.  I think that protein shakes should be a big part of getting healthy but you have to find the right one.  I have tried many of them and hated all of them.  My daughter introduced me to Juice Plus when she saw me having trouble finding one that didn’t have so many chemicals and fake sugars.  My body can not do the fake sugars! I get head aches and dizzy spells.  I have to stay clear of any product that has it.  Juice Plus shakes don’t have any fake sugars and it can be mixed with water or milk.  I don’t do dairy so water works and I sometimes add fruit to give it a bit of thickness.  I also take the fruit and berry caplets every morning.  These are dehydrated fruits and veggies that give you what you need each day without eating all that you need. My stomach is tiny so there is no way I could eat all that is recommended. I open them up and put them right in my morning shake.  For more information and insight on this product you can use this link to get that info from my daughter Heather.  She is who I buy it from!!! http://heatherrevels.juiceplus.com

So that is my take on my daily supplements. What ever you decide to do to get healthy remember its all a tool and you have to work it.   I know that you have other questions about the changes I made to my diet and my exercise program.  I will answer all that on tomorrows blog so make sure you check it out.  I hope your hump day is Blue Happy! Blog you tomorrow!
