August Turning the Corner at Blue Happy Living

August 1, 2016

Well its August, time to turn the corner as the summer season begins to unwind. It has been a slow but well needed summer of rest for me. My summer started off with a big bang in summer art camp and then my surgery. I did rest as the doctors had advised me to do even if I didn’t like being down.

This past weekend was fantastic getting away with Greg. We so needed that time together. We visited so many places from our past and new places we will be going back to this fall. I discovered this great little town that I’m already looking for a place in my fall schedule to revisit. Comfort Texas stole my heart a bit. The people were over the top welcoming and the shopping was fantastic. There is an old hotel there I’m making reservations to stay. It was so peaceful from the minute you walk in. It has been completely restored but never lost its old charm. My kinda place, old but restored to live many more years. That is kinda how I feel about me and my journey “Restored Life”.

This weekend I bought so many great pieces. Some for personal use and some for the Blue Happy blog. I bought tables, quilts, wood, metal and even something for my studio. I’ll be sharing all these items with you over the next few weeks as I blog about them. I gotta say, by Sunday after 4 days of shopping thrift stores, antique shops and junk stores I was so ready to be home. I don’t think I could stop at one more store. You know it’s been a great weekend when you are that tired. Greg saw a flea market on the side of the road and I said that’s ok honey lets just get home. My truck was full anyway. I found so many things that inspire me, things that can help organize any home, lots of home decor items and many items that will be gifts when finished. Some are vintage and you know tons are shabby chic and if they aren’t now they will be when I’m done.

This week I’m working hard to get the final touches on the Blue Happy online store ready. Each piece will be a one of a kind piece so if you see it and want it you best grab it. When it’s gone it’s gone.  I’m loving all the past pieces from the blog we are photographing and new one’s you haven’t seen yet. I will admit it’s hard because as I pull them out I think ooh do I need that? Like I said I can’t keep everything or I’ll have to move and I’m not gonna do that. One of my favorite pieces was pulled out this morning and I was so proud of myself I logged it photographed it and boxed it. All without trying to reason with myself why I should keep it. Monday is already successful!  So keep watching for the big announcement as to when it will be up and running.

With August coming I need to finish up a few projects on my patio before the fall weather and school starts. So I’ll be sharing those before and after projects with you this week on the blog. I’m redoing some patio furniture, giving my studio deck its final make over and adding a few things to the fence. All fun stuff to end my summer before it’s back to school and back to a regular routine.

Monday is a day to start new, to give yourself a clean slate and make the best of your new week. I hope today finds you full of hope and ideas for your home, family and life. Have a Blue Happy Monday!
