Front Porch Fall Ready

October 14, 2016

Thursday was a great weather day here in Texas. Ethan watched me drag out all my fall and Thanksgiving decor. He waited to see what I was going to do with it all. When he saw me going outside to the front porch he was so eager to help me.

We started by cleaning everything up and putting away all the spring things. He couldn’t understand why I had to do all that first. “Why can’t we just put out the decorations Lolli”? I explained by doing the clean up first and putting away it keeps things organized. He said “ok Lolli but I don’t like this organizing thing”. I have so much to teach this little boy. Once we starting the decorating he got happier!

I have one medium size tub that I keep my fall and Thanksgiving decor in. I invested in a few things about 5 years ago after Thanksgiving when everything got marked down. I use the same things every year and just add live mums. So this year I went to Lowes for my live mums and they were only $5.99. They are a really nice size and had lots of flowers. I try not to place things the same way every year so even though it’s all the same stuff it looks different.

I placed the pumpkins in different places so I can spread out the fall color all around the porch. These pumpkins are great because they don’t go bad. I think on the after holiday sale at Hobby Lobby I only paid a few dollars for all of them. After I place the pumpkins I start putting out the colorful fall foliage also not real and will not wilt ever! Because we live in Texas most of my porch summer plants are still green and healthy until around late December or January so I just fill in around them with fall color. I finished off the porch with cute signs that have words or quotes on them. I placed a burlap pillow on the bench that says Grateful. My porch is ready to welcome any and all guest that come to visit during this fall and Thanksgiving season.

Decorating for the holiday’s can be expensive and cause a mess in your home. Or you can limit yourself to a few things that you use over and over. Grab things on sale after the holiday and make sure when your fall and Thanksgiving container is full you stop buying. That way everything stays organized and clean up is easy. Hope your beautiful fall Thursday brings you many blessings and it’s a Blue Happy memory kinda day.
