I Just Have To Let It Out Of The Bag

May 24, 2017

I have lots of projects in my to do bag. When I finish one it is always up at Doc’s in my booth with in a few days. Because I’ll be a bit busy the next few weeks I decided to prepare for the June 10th sidewalk sale ahead of time. So today I finished up all my projects that I will be selling that day. This group has me all giddy and I need to let at least one of them out of the bag early. I LOVE it and I think you will as well.

I found this chair a long time ago. Once I got it to my studio it was all busted up. Wasn’t sure I could salvage it or any of the parts then the light bulb went off. It needed to be saved because it was so beautiful and had so much character. I painted it out red, sanded the edges and added some hardware for fun. I didn’t replace the seat I used brackets to secure two boards on the inside of the legs. I went to Lowes and bought the largest fern I could find. I brought it home and placed it right in the center of the seat. The two boards were placed perfect for the fern to sit on. The center is open so it can drain water. What a way to greet your guest at the front door or on the patio to add that punch of color. This chair isn’t really water proof so it would need to sit under a covered outside area. This chair was trash and really should have been tossed out. I think we are too quick to do that sometimes and need to hold our horses before we trash things.

Trash trolling may seem way out of your comfort zone but for me I love the thrill of finding. I have rules for myself when I’m out. I don’t take things I don’t need, I don’t take things that I have no plans for and I don’t take things that I can’t redo into something or break it down and add to something else.

Recently I was on my way to the gym and someone had put out a Little Tike climbing cube. I didn’t think my daughter and son-in-law would like it if I called them at 4am to ask them. So I grabbed it, tossed it in my truck and away I went. My daughter was wide-eyed when I showed up and as I finished setting it up Clint came home. He too had a wide-eyed look but was sweet and didn’t say anything. Clearly it was a hit with Ethan and I think Mom and Dad are happy too. The $14.88 plastic pool finished it off.  Hours of summer fun will be had for next to nothing.  Looks like Ethan is quiet Blue Happy!!

Mark your calendar for the sidewalk sale June 10th!
