I Guess I’ve Upset A Few Readers

June 9, 2017

It’s not everyday that I open my Blue Happy email to unhappy readers. On Thursday that is what happened. The Blog that went out on Wednesday about the sidewalk sale got some grumpy company. Here’s the deal they aren’t upset about the sidewalk sale they are upset that I wouldn’t show all the pieces. They didn’t like the teasers at all, said it was mean they live to far away and can’t come to see what I did to the old wood tool box and the metal chair.

Okay so I’ll spill the beans tomorrow is the big sale so why not. The old tool box is very old and the wood handle wasn’t in the best of shape. First Greg tried really hard to fix it maybe to hard because it broke. The wood couldn’t take the pressure of the weight. The rest of the box was okay so he added a few new screws to secure it. Now we need a new handle. While I was in the house Greg got a little creative on his own and when I came out I was in love. I think I’m starting to rub off on him with this creative stuff. We had a stack of old stair rails so he grabbed one up to go measure it. Surprise was the rail was the exact size of the box. That never happens people. Really we never get it that easy when he starts putting together my ideas. I wanted the box to have a little more color so I add a light spray of Valspar Project Paint in teal. I didn’t want it to be so perfect so I sanded most of it back off. Finishing it off with a couple of coats of clear finish to seal it. The box is done but it needed to have its goodies inside. I filled it with moss and added the plants for color and life. It turned out so pretty for the first time Greg said we might need to keep that one. Sorry Greg I promised it would be in the sale so it goes.

The metal chair was fun for me. Kinda took me back to my younger days as an artist. I wanted to do something whimsical and fun with this chair and I did. I’m pretty sure some will like it and some will say “Ummmm not for me”. It’s a fun piece to add to your front porch or patio. A piece of conversation if you will. I used 4 colors of spray paint and got all fancy with it. It is an original piece by me. I’m gonna call it my Blue Happy Living cloud chair. You decide if you like it or not you can’t hurt my feelings at all. As an artist I have learned that not everyone will like my artwork.  We all have opinions about art and that is why I always teach my students there is no right or wrong in art.  Art comes from your heart.  Little secret I don’t think Greg likes it his “It’s nice” seemed a bit fake.

Okay all you readers who live in Tenn, Ark and Oklahoma here are the projects. Next time know that I will post all the projects on the Saturday morning of the sale so you are not left out. Thanks for loving Blue Happy so much!

Hope to see you tomorrow at the sale if you are local. It starts at 10am and ends at 6pm when Doc Holliday’s Emporium closes. The items out front are marked with great prices so don’t wait to late or you will miss out.
