I Went Against Doctor’s Orders

June 14, 2017

So last night  I couldn’t sleep.  My sleeping is all messed up because of this doing nothing thing.  I have no routine it’s like okay now what left side or right side.  Cooper needed to go outside so I went out with him.  We have a bobcat that has been spotted in our neighborhood on roof tops and fences.  The last photo of him was taken on the street that runs along the side of my corner lot.  Not a good feeling when you let to small dogs out in the yard at dark.  While Cooper did his business I found myself in my studio looking at all the great pieces of furniture I will be working on when I’m healed.  The next thing I knew I had paint brush in hand and I was painting.

I was just gonna add a little bit of color to see how it would look but before I knew it I had painted a room full of furniture.  I told you I wasn’t good at being good. I’m very tired today and that’s okay.  I might have been okay but all the lifting of each piece was a bad idea.  I started with a coffee table and end table.  I refinished 2 causal chairs and a sofa along with a hall tree and a fire-place mantle.  I guess that wasn’t enough I had to finish off the night with the bed and night table.  What was I thinking?  It doesn’t really matter it’s done and I’m happy to share the project with you on my blog today.  I’m sure the neighbors heard me early this morning as I set it all up to take pictures.  It all turned out so lovely and I wanted to share with you.  While I was painting I didn’t even notice any of my pain or pulling at my stitches.

I feel like I need to explain before I go any further.  When you are an artist, creativity if not let out of your soul will eat away at you.  Just sitting here doing nothing was getting the best of me.  I needed to redo something and give it new life.  I see Dr. A on Thursday and I’m not sure he will agree with my reason behind working on furniture when I was supposed to be resting.  What is done is done so I’ll take the hit and move on. It felt really good to do furniture.

Clearly 9 pieces of furniture in one night is a bit over kill for a healthy person.  I’m an over kill artist that has to work no matter what.  I hope you enjoy the furniture redo.  It’s a bit different from most of the furniture I do but it makes a big statement. You can get all 9 pcs. at Doc Holliday’s Emporium 113 S Birmingham Wylie Tx.
