Let Me Count The Ways

June 27, 2017

A messy home is something we all encounter sometime or another. For some its daily, weekly or if your lucky only monthly. I have rooms in my home that never get messy unless we have an over night guest. Only because we are empty nesters. Some of my rooms have to be cleaned daily and with the hubs working from home it can be twice a daily clean up. What ever your cleaning needs are it’s much easier if there is a place for everything.

If you come to my house it is clear I love containers of all kinds. I like plastic, cloth, wood and even metal. I don’t really care as long as it helps me organize things. I decided to take one container and see just how many ways I could use it. Now I stopped after a few because you can only down load so many pictures before the person (Heather) that controls your blog sends you a nasty message. Letting you know if you put to many pictures it takes to long to down load and people will just give up. Okay I got it.

I found this wood crate at an estate sale for next to nothing. You can buy one similar to this one at Hobby Lobby or Michael’s for about $10. They are in natural wood so you will have to paint or stain it to match your decor. At most you will need to seal it so it doesn’t pick up stains over time. I painted it with Valspar project paint and sanded off the edges to give it that shabby chic look. Now the fun begins on how many things you can organize with this cute little crate.

My Special Spice Box: It’s always a running joke that my cook book is the shelves in the grocery story that have all the season packets.  Maybe true when I first got married because I didn’t know how to cook.  I’m much better today at preparing meals.  I still use these packets so having them organized makes it easy to know what I have.

Condiments: Most would think that you could only use this on the table or counter but go ahead put it in the frig.  When your lunch or dinner calls for condiments pull it out and sit it where you are serving.  It makes prep time fast and easy.

Soda Cans: Store in the pantry or in the frig so soda’s aren’t rolling all over the place.  Toss the ugly card board box container and pretty up your frig.

Morning Prep Time:  Have the coffee drinkers all set up in the morning with this crate of coffee needs.  Fill it with all that you need along with the cups and spoons.  It makes the morning run a bit more smoothly when trying to get out the door.  It will also curb the need to hit those expensive coffee houses if you can grab and go your coffee.

Bed Side Snacks: I must have a bottle of water beside my bed at all times.  Most of the time there is an open one and a back up.  It never fails I get in bed and Greg says I wish I had a snack.  He knows I’ll get up and get it for him.  So why not have those things already by your bed side in this crate.  Also a great idea to put next to your guest bed so your guest has a snack.  No knocks asking where your chips or cookies are.

Remotes: Finally a place to put them all.  I hate when I haven’t been home and Greg has had the remote.  You spend way to much time looking for it.  Place this near where everyone sits and encourage you family to place it in the crate when they walk away from the TV.  As I said a place for everything.

That was so much fun! Greg thought I had gone crazy as I ran around my house putting things in and out of the crate. Think about the one place in your home that drives you crazy and is always disorganized. Maybe it’s the pile of mail all over the counter, what about the top of your washing machine or maybe it’s your kids bathroom vanity. What ever it is I’m sure this crate or maybe 2 or 3 crates can help you with your mess. I know I only touched on a few things but if you think about I’m sure you will come up with more Blue Happy ways to organize. Save yourself time and money go by Doc Holliday’s this weekend. You can pick up this crate for only $8 already painted and ready to go. This weekend just happens to be the first sidewalk sale of July. There will be lots of great items out front and inside to pick from. Doc Holliday’s is located at 113 S Birmingham Wylie.
