My Creative and Colorful Soul

June 28, 2017

Every minute of the day and night creative images run through my head. Sometimes I just have to ignore them or I would never sleep or really much of anything else. Having a creative brain means that you look at things different from most. Last weekend Greg and I had dinner with some friends of ours. It was a nice night so we sat on the patio at the restaurant. We got there first and then they arrived shortly after they got there my art brain took over. We had a nice conversation going on when out of my mouth I spit art information. I’m sure no one cared about, but it was important to me I guess because out it came. I said do you guys realize that all of our clothing color coordinates? No one said a word just odd looks. I said see we all have some sort of teal blue in our clothing. They all agreed laughed lightly and moved on. Didn’t phase Greg at all he is use to it.

I had this idea in my head for a while before I put brush to dresser. Yes that’s what I said brush to dresser not canvas. Why can’t we have pieces of furniture that serve two purposes art and storage. I think we can so I set out to make that happen. I bought this little side table dresser at Rustybydesignauction.com one of my favorite auctions. It really wasn’t that special but something about it told me grab it up. Maybe the low price I got it for was what whispered in my ear. We did my normal repair, paint, sand the edges and then it hit me it needs to be taller. So Greg my cute little handy man added legs just like that. Now I’m not able to move things around these days so Greg has to lift and move everything for me. I sat in my kitchen and painted on the front of the dresser. After it was dry I distressed it so it’s vintage shabbiness could shine. It’s fun and whimsical and what a treat to add to an entryway, hallway or really just about any room in the house. Just for fun I painted the drawers all different shades. Starting with light blue moving to blue then blue green and finishing with green. It just a fun way to finish out a piece that will make you smile when you pull open the drawer.

We all get in this rut of what is expected. How we act, what we say or even what is in our homes. I’ve always been a little quirky and different. When I was younger I tried to hide that side of me. Now I’m older bring it on I say. I’m me and there isn’t really any other way I’d rather be. Blue Happy is about living this life with spunk and gusto. Not looking over your shoulder trying to please every one else. I’m not ashamed of me, being a christian, walking that walk or saying what is on my mind. I guess I’m just simple Blue Happy me!

This artsy dresser will be at the Doc Holliday sidewalk sale this Saturday July 1st. Hope too see you there!!
