Kicked Out So Now What

July 25, 2017

When I go to estate sales I see so many things that people once used and then stack it up with lots of other things in a closet or the garage.  Items that serve you great in one room of your home then kicked out when no longer needed.  They find better ways to organize things or they just don’t need it any more.  I’ve decided to take those things that are old, tossed aside and re-use them in other ways.  This is one of my very favorite things to do.  It is almost a game for me.  I’m very competitive even with myself.

A few weeks back on a rainy Saturday morning Greg and I ended up at a sale that was over flowing with junk.  This person must have been a crafting queen because I have never seen so much jewelry making items in my life.  Well maybe at Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.  There was this room that was stacked high with wood trays.  The kind you use in an office to organize papers on your desk.  I’m telling you there had to be like 50 or more in this one room off the garage.  I’m pretty sure it was her crafting room. This is where I found all the jewelry items also stacked to the sky.  I grabbed up a few of the signal trays because they sell very well in my booth after I give them a redo.  On top of it all was this great double stacked tray.  I could only find one but I knew just what it could be used for when I found it.

I decided on a great color that is bright and cheerful.  This teal is so popular and makes any room have a happy punch of color.  I gave it about 3 light coats of Valspar Project Spray Paint.  I let it dry almost all day until I was ready to hit it with my trusty little hand sander.  If you notice I sprayed the brass on the trays that hold them together.  When I sanded it took a little off the brass and it shines through.  Kinda adds that something special.  I finished it off with Valspar clear finish in satin to give it protection.  Now where will this double stacked tray live now? What room will it be in for its next restored life?

Oh my ladies, all those hair things all over your bathroom counter top just found a home.  Hair dry, hair brushes, flat irons and curling irons all need a home.  This double stacked tray does just that on any counter top, dresser top or even under the sink.  It was kicked out of the office and moved into the bathroom.  It does a good job at decoratively organizing the bathroom crazy hair items. This Blue Happy double stacked tray is already up at Doc Holliday’s Emporium ready to go home with someone needing to organize.
