Summer Patio Reveal

July 6, 2017

Our patio is a living space in our home we use year around. Even on the coldest of nights you will find us out there all cozy wrapped in blankets next to a heater. We love this space and it is forever changing with the seasons.  All of the things on our patio that make it so comfortable have been found, purchase at an estate sale, garage sale, auctions or someone gave it to us.  I guess the theme of our patio is like redneck meets Americana that loves comfort with a splash of if ya like it put it on the patio.

Greg loves his patio and he has a place that everyone knows is his seat.  It’s right next to the patio iPad.  Yes he has an iPad that belongs to the patio and a speaker that is always there.   He is the king of finding what ever song old or new you toss out at him.  We’ve had some of the best times doing this.  Some of those nights have gone way late but it was so worth it.  No one has been able to stump him with a song or music group.

I already posted the newest piece we bought last weekend at Doc Holliday’s sidewalk sale but here it is again.  We went to At Home Store and purchased a navy blue cushion that matches other cushion I already have.  It was a great deal at $39 and it fit perfect.  We already had the pillows that I’m given so much trouble over.  A few people okay one person (John) is always giving me crap over all the pillows.  Not just on the patio but also inside my house.  I do love a good stack of pillows to cuddle up to when I wanna relax. I always get them on sale and trust me when I say on sale.  Most of them didn’t cost over $3 each.  Pillows add color and fun with a purpose.  Right next to the bench I have something very special to me.  It’s a pot of succulents that I purchased at Magnolia Market a few days before my surgery.  I didn’t have time to repot them but when I started getting around I found them already potted.  Greg is so sweet sometimes.  I said “sometimes” Greg don’t get a big head over that.  Greg just finished the coffee table using his Christmas present a wood planer.  Now its beautiful and I’m sure there is like 15 coats of clear finish on the top.  I shouldn’t have left him alone with that stuff.

I love having things around me that make me happy and all the items we have made or collected to hang on the wall do just that.  My favorite is the sign about Love and a Dog.  I recently found this candle holder for next to nothing.  It’s not done in a color that we really use on our patio so it will go to Doc Hollidays this weekend for the July 8th sidewalk sale. These are great to add decor and purpose to your patio. Adding candles that keep bugs away to this piece gives it purpose with a whimsical color.

To add the organization to the patio we bought a set of lockers.  We keep all the pool supplies, beach towels and a few tools inside.  We love that it all has a place and we know where to find things.  I love when our guest come to our pool and I see them go get a towel out of the lockers.  Making guest feel welcome is something we strive to do in our home and on the patio.  Right over the lockers hangs a great light. It holds candles that operate on batteries and has its own remote for easy turn on as the sun goes down.

Well that’s it our little out-door living space.  I can’t finish this blog without give props to Rustybydesignauction.com I love this auction house.   I buy so many things for our pool and patio area from them.  You gotta check them out if you are looking to decorate you home or outside living area.  Maybe you have a space outside that needs a little pick me up.  Maybe you already started but need to finish it.  Now is the time to make that space a Blue Happy place to be. Adding that outdoor space enlarges your home to make more memories.
