Completely Messed Up

September 4, 2017

I’ve been completely turned around with this holiday. Every time we have a Monday off I get confused and messed up with my days. On top of that our regular body pump class at the gym was canceled this morning. The girls decided to sleep in and go to the 8:30 classes. Ugh I wasn’t a fan of that time of day at the gym. I felt like I had missed a big part of my day. I was a bit grumpy at the gym. Tomorrow is Tuesday and another day to get it back on track.

Greg and I really didn’t have many plans for todays holiday so I decided to do a few fun things. I went to my beloved stash of things to do and pulled out a few small things I could do in one day. I started with a small table, metal bookends, metal basket, metal owl hot plate, wood tray and a shadow box wall shelf. I wanted to see how many things I could paint with one can of Valspar project paint. I prepared it all for painting and WOW I did it all but the little table and wall shelf.

The bookends and hot plate were easy just a couple of coats of paint, dry and sanded the edges just before I added a clear coat for protects. The metal basket was the same but I felt like it needed something in the bottom to make it more usable. I started looking for any glass jars I had but then I had a light bulb moment. Tile would be great and cover the bottom so you could use it for many things in the kitchen, bathroom, office or family room. I also used the same color on the wood tray, sanded the edges and clear coated it. I added a long tile with a cool Texas design on it to the bottom. This is great for putting the tile in the oven with your dinner rolls. Place the tile back in the wood tray under your rolls it will hold the heat long at dinner. So I got 4 items out of one can of Valspar project paint.

The table and the wall shelf were done in 2 different greens. When I finished painting the table I used white to add a design to the top. I did a quick sand back and clear coat to finish it off. Adding this to any room gives you extra storage with a little color. The wall shelf also great for any room has a shabby chic look with its sanded edges and worn corners. I need something like this in my bathroom for the wall and all my small jars of creams and lotions.

Greg spent the day making sure our couch didn’t feel lonely. LOL he deserves a day to watch TV and rest. We will both be back at it early in the morning so no fear of us getting lazy. I hope your holiday was restful, full of memories and most of all blessed.
All of these items and a few more new things will be in my booth at Doc Holliday’s Emporium 113 S Birmingham Wylie Texas on Tuesday.
