Greg Surprised Me!

October 31, 2017

Just when I think he can’t do anything else to surprise me he up and does it again. It’s no secret that Blue Happy Living is growing.  We hit record sales this month at Doc Holliday’s with the highest sales yet.  We have been on over drive going to estate sales, garage sales and weekend junk-in.  Sales are growing so our back stock of inventory had to grow as well.  It has grown so much that my storage unit is full, my studio is in over flow and now our 2 car garage is full.  I have been in consent worry what to do.  The cost of storage units here is Texas is like a car payment when you need a big unit. So adding more storage wasn’t the answer.  I’m a worrier and Greg knows that so much that he knew he had to fix it for me.  On Monday he text me an address to meet him after school.  I knew the area and knew something was up.  When I got there he had secured a storage place for me.  I won the lottery with this guy. I now have more storage, 5 minutes from my house and cheaper than what I was paying for the old place.  I’m one happy wife right now.

Back up to last weekend we had a banner weekend at estate sales.  Brought home a truck load with all kinds of unique items to redo and reuse in the Blue Happy store.  One of those items was this amazing little table that was from the late 50’s so it’s cute vintage.  It had a hinged top for storage and a great magazine pocket on the side.  It was in great shape, all it needed was a paint job, sand back and seal it.  It was unique on it’s on and didn’t need anything added to it.  On the way home Greg said I really would like to keep that table for our house.  I said that would be nice but the only time I have has to be spent on items for Blue Happy.  Every thing I do sales within days to a week so there is no extra time right now to do projects for us.  I loved the table as well but I just didn’t think I had the time so maybe another table down the road for us honey.  Sunday afternoon I had so much to do at Doc’s and making a Chalk Country paint order.  Greg had plans to do “football” yes anything football.  So we kinda did our own thing.  Around 2 I was eating lunch standing in front of the frig when he came bouncing into the kitchen with that table.  The one he had talked about several times in the past 24 hours of purchasing it.  To my surprise it had been cleaned, painted, sanded back and sealed.  He had seen me do it all so many times he wanted to do it for me.  It turned out shabby chic amazing and I love it.

I don’t have a before picture, just the pictures of the loaded truck at the last estate sale.  You can see the table in the back left of the photo. He did such a great job it has inspired him to do a coffee table with an old door and a table for under my TV that hangs on the wall.  Maybe in the future he will have a few pieces in the Blue Happy Living store.  You never know about this guy he is always surprising me even after 31+ years.
