My Big Secret Was Spoiled Before Saturday

November 13, 2017

On Saturday I announced that I would be telling a big secret at Doc Holliday’s. The plan was made ready on Thursday and all was going to plan when we hit a snag. I have to tell you the back story first so it all makes sense. Over the past few months my son has been selling found treasures at sidewalk sales.  He is very artsy like me and loves the idea of vintage made useable again.  He has done very well at these sales and was saving up to open a booth inside of Doc Holliday’s.  In December he will be 25 years old and I wanted to give him something very special.  What better way to celebrate you 25th birthday than with a present of opening your very own business.  So that is what Greg and I gave him a few months rent paid, a booth full of treasures and a way to add extra income to his family budget.   I had it all planned out to surprise him on Saturday morning but then that snag I was talking about.  At the end of each day if you sale something at Doc’s you get an email.  We set the booth up on Thursday and Friday he sold stuff so he got an email.  He and the family came over for dinner on Friday evening.  He showed me the email and said this is weird why would I get this from Doc’s?  I responded with “Well Happy Birthday son” and showed his a picture of his booth.  He was so excited and grateful for the gift.  I do believe I saw a tear or two.

Giving someone a helping hand in life can be the best way to show them how much you love them.  I could have easily gone to the store-bought a few things, wrapped them up and called it a gift.  Twenty-Five is special it marks a special place in your life.  It kinda says I’ve moved over the mature age into real adulthood.  My son has a creative soul and needs to have an outlet to express that.  I totally understand that and want him to have that.  It’s all his now, what he does with it is up to him.  I’ve done my part and he is now responsible for keeping it up.  I watch as he and his wife both got excited about it.  I heard them making plans to add things to the booth.  It did my heart good to know they are working this business together.  I wish and pray from the best for them.  If you are near by come visit his booth and look through all his treasures.  The booth is named Ravenson which is connected to his Irish Heritage.  Dallas has a great love for his past and how he became who he really is.  He is a amazing son and I love him.  I guess you could said it’s now a family affair. Everyone should have a chance at their dream.
