You can be a part of this project

April 14, 2016

I found this vanity on the side of the road several months ago.  If I think about it, it was last summer. When I brought it home it was white and in really bad shape.  I took pictures of it but I can’t find the picture on this cloud thing that all my photo’s go to.  The cloud things totally blows my mind.  So I don’t have a before picture, so sorry.  I do have a fun idea for you guys to be a part of this project.  The picture below is  of the vanity painted with one coat of black paint. When I first got  it I wanted to paint it black but it didn’t seem to fit so I stopped.  It has sat in my work shop  all this time.

So here is the fun part! I’m going to Periscope on Sunday about this project and the process of doing it.  I will let you pick the color that the vanity will be painted.  I’m not going to tell you all the details  I’m keeping some of the design a surprise.  The sky is the limit on what color it can be, you are the leader in picking that.  Please leave a remark at the bottom of the blog or leave a message  on Facebook.   I will look at it all your votes and what ever color gets the most votes wins.    So please share this with your friends so we can get a lot of ideas and votes! The final piece will be on Monday’s blog.

This should be a lot of fun for us to do a project together.  I’m excited to see what colors that you pick for this beautiful vanity.  I haven’t picked the hardware yet because that will be determined by the color you pick.  Make sure you have the periscope app on your phone and follow me at Blue Happy Living.  Periscope is a live broad cast of me in my studio.  I try to Periscope on Sundays, my only slow day to do it.

I will tell you that I’m adding a bench seat to this vanity and it will be something very special as well.  I love to work with my friends and get ideas from each other.  When you are redoing something in your home ask your friends what their ideas are.  This is a great way to figure out what is best for your space or redo to a piece of furniture.  Sometimes we get into a black and white rut (AKA Me!) so asking someone else what they think can push us out of out rut.  So start sending your color ideas and let’s do this! Have a Blue Happy Thursday it’s the eve to your weekend.

    1. My vote for the color would be mint green! I love that color – it’s so soft but still can be a surprising pop of color. Some bold hardware would be awesome for the knobs on the drawers.

      1. Thank you Heather for your input. You will all be surprised as I was to what color I went with. Only 2 colors got more than 1 vote.

    1. This piece seems kind of antique. I was thinking a pale pink or pale peach. But then I looked up images of victorian vanities & I really like the white ones with a bench that pops out a fabric with color, like peach. Heather might have the right idea though. I found a pale mint green photo online with gold highlights. https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tophomedesigns.com%2Fwp-content%2Fgallery-bank%2Fgallery-uploads%2Fvanity-table-shaby-chic.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tophomedesigns.com%2F50-awesome-vanity-table-makeup-table-ladies%2F&docid=3IX2tF2CIClWmM&tbnid=_CUa_YIY3c64DM%3A&w=600&h=791&safe=off&bih=441&biw=823&ved=0ahUKEwiqvfHVrZLMAhVH2yYKHeM8DXQQMwhbKCEwIQ&iact=mrc&uact=8 Another green that was shabby chic https://www.pinterest.com/pin/496521927641334510/ Don’t look at links if you don’t want to be influenced by the photos! Have fun painting!

      1. Good eye Cathy it is an antique from the 40’s is my best guess. It will have an old look when it gets finished.
