REVEAL Day 4 Crappy to Not So Happy

August 19, 2016

Remember the little brown table that I found in my neighbors trash just across the street. It had been left out in the weather and was almost done. Lets just say the pulse was weak and frail. I rescued it and planned my redo.

Today was supposed to be the day of its reveal. I started the refurbish and it didn’t go as planned. I began over 10 days ago, I knew it would be a challenge but, I had no idea what was in store for me. The sanding alone took almost 3 days. As I sanded pieces of the table broke off and so repairs started to pile up. Finally I got to the painting part and with that I thought ok 2 days max, I’m done. Not so fast this little table said. I put on the first paint and left it to dry. When I came back to apply the second coat I realized that the first coat had vanished. The only thing you could see was a light white haze over the surface. What had happened was it soaked in to the wood. The wood was so dry it basically soaked it up and needed more. Okay I thought I need at least 2 more coats. As of yesterday I have put on 6 coats of paint and finally it was a solid color white. I had to teach today so working on it all day didn’t happen. I was hoping I could get it done and hit publish on the blog about 4:00. Again, It wasn’t to be because just as I started to tile this morning after the gym and before school the sky opened up and it rained. So I thought I would be home from school early today and get it done by 5:00. Nope had an issue to deal with at school so I didn’t even pull out of school until 2:00 normally on Fridays I leave at noon. Funny how we have plans and life gets in the way when we least expect it.  I’m not very good at change of any kind even as small as working on a project that isn’t even needed until October when my daughter’s house is finished.   It’s hard to get your head wrapped around something other that what you planned.  I need to work on that and make sure I’m open to what life has to offer other wise I’m gonna miss out on things.  As I have always said everything that happens to us holds something to be learned.

So here we are it’s Friday evening and I’m tiling and grouting this beautiful little table. It will be worth the wait to see it. I’m not gonna make you wait until Monday I’ll send out a blog on Saturday. This one is a stunning make over that will shock you. It had damage, weathered wood, cracks and even pieces that fell off. Tomorrow you will see a beautiful piece of furniture that will be amazing in my daughters new nursery. I hope that Friday treated you well and you are excited for the weekend. If you have plans and even if you don’t have a Blue Happy weekend.
