Words That Inspire

September 22, 2015

In most stores these days that sells home decor are letters and words that are meant to inspire us in our homes. I love this idea and what it can mean to you on an everyday moment as you see and pass these words. I for one have several places in my home that have words that have meaning or are simply there to inspire.

I love to go to my friend’s home and they have words on the wall. Most of the time you don’t have to ask the meaning you can just see how that word fits into the family. My friend Nicole has the word EAT on her kitchen wall. Now you might think that is simple and easy to understand. Yes we all eat in the kitchen but if you watch her sweet little family you get it. She has 2 amazing little kiddos and she lets them help her cook even though they are so small. Nicole is an amazing Momma, she lets them taste and eat food very early on. So food and eating is a comfort word and activity in their home. To me the word is perfect on her wall.

In my kitchen I have the word DINE over my breakfast table.  I chose that word because I want people to feel comfortable in my home, I want them to sit and dine with me.  When I was  a little girl my grandmother always fed whoever walked through her door and that is what I want to do for my guest.

In my husband’s mancave/poker room the word showtime is on the wall.  I loved this because that room is for fellowship, laughter and gathering.  It seemed to be a great word to display to express just that.  I have the letter M all over my house is many different shapes and sizes they make me very Blue Happy when I see them.

I found the sweet little word LOVE at a garage sale for $5 WHAT A DEAL! The red was nice but not everyone likes red and it seemed to make it very Valentine’s Day.  So I painted it out in black, aged it and clear coated it for protection.

This can be used in lots of places in the home but my favorite would be to use it in layering.  I would place it on a fire-place mantle or a shelf using it with other items like photo frames, candle sticks, a clock or whatever you feel expresses you. You could also use it by its self on a desk or above your kitchen cabinets.

Words that inspire are so important to us all.  It gives us those moments that make us stop and think.  I love having inspiring words around me and look forward to adding more to my decor because this makes me so Blue Happy.  Go add those words to your decor that inspire you Blue Happy!
