Do One For Me Please

March 22, 2017

Right before my surgery in November I rearranged the art studio at school. Sometimes you just need a change and a good clean out. I had a bulletin board on the wall that I had found in someone’s trash. Big surprise there, right. I painted it all up and gave it the Blue Happy treatment. It looked great but I never really used it. So I took it down to move things around the room. One day right after Christmas one of our support staff said she needed a board to display kids art. I grabbed it and we hung it in her office. It looked great on her wall and it’s now a great place to hang her own kids art. She has 3 kiddo’s so it required more than one board.

A week or so later one of the other support staff that semi shares the same office said I would love a bulletin board that cute. So what am I to do but do another bulletin board but in a different way. She gave me a board so all I had to do was Blue Happy it all up. I used acrylic paint that I watered down.  This makes the paint look like stain and allows the wood grain to show through.   I used spray clear coat to protect the paint. After all it will be used in a school office where children come and go all day. I added the stencil in the center so that I had a base to decorate around. I started looking in my studio for those extras to make it fun, happy and appealing to all ages. I found these great little colorful flowers made out of felt. They had a sticky back but I wanted to add the push pins to give them a little pop. Before I placed the flowers I painted the word believe yellow and placed it at the top.  I added sliver paint accents to the letters to add some fun.   The finishing touch was the little birdie on the edge. He has such a happiness about him that makes you smile.

Most of us have these bulletin board around out house.  They are easy to decorate and update to be a part of your home or office,  It only takes about an hour or two along with odds and end from around your house.  How cute to do one of these to help organize the family papers that need to be kept safe until they are needed.  In an office it could be decorated with a calendar, schedule or travel plans.  So many options and very little effort.

There really isn’t anything that you can’t change to make it great for the home or office. Recycling, redoing and reusing not only saves money but it gives us options in our organizing and decorating.  This once was an old bulletin board that was donated to our school.  Now it is Fun and Blue Happy to make anyone smile.
