Dirty Laundry We All Have It

March 26, 2018

We all have it, those things we don’t want others to know about us.  Things from the past that might not get the approval of those in our lives today.  Turning a blinds eye hoping that it will go away isn’t the answer.  I guess it’s best not to advertise it but if someone finds out we should own up to it.  Lying gets you no where, but in a deeper rut.  Once when I was a poor college student a few friends of mine went to a local park.  None of us had much money so lunch out wasn’t an option.  As we walked around the park we found ourselves in the mist of a group of people.  Not sure what was going on we walked around like idiots.  All of the sudden a very nice older lady said girls get in line and get your plate.  Starved we got in line had a great lunch and figured out we were in the mist of a VERY LARGE family reunion.  We thanked all that sat near us as we left.  Okay not a big deal right no harm really.  Maybe if we didn’t go back to the park 3 more times and eat at 3 more different family reunions.  I think the last family caught on because they started asking us questions like “now whose kids are you”.   We got scared and decided not to go back and swore to never tell anyone.  Oops I guess I blew that.

In our house we have dirty laundry that shows up ever so often.  I’m sure you have it to but not the dirty laundry from our past.  It’s that never-ending laundry you have to do week after week and it never ends.  I think Adam and Eve had it right, you know no clothing.  Sure would make like easier and quiet interesting.  It always seems to make a clean room look unclean when it’s piled in the corner or on the floor. So I set out to make it better and pretty if you will.  Yes dirty laundry that is stored away decoratively.

I started with an old crate that was bigger than most crates I had ever worked with.  A friend of mine gave it to me a few weeks back. Just last week on the way home from the gym someone had put out to trash a jewelry box that was all busted up.  The bottom base was still in great condition so in my Blue Happy Truck it went.  Once I got it home and cleaned up this project was easy and fast.  Crisp Collar all the way, with sanded back edges and Defender clear finish.  I did a few coats of the clear finish so that the wood would be protected against wet clothing. I went to Hobby Lobby to get the letters and spray painted them with Valspar project paint.  It would be easy to use hot glue to attach them but I prefer wood glue for a permit stick.  I clear coated them once the glue was dry.

I love the idea of decoratively hiding the laundry until it’s wash day. It also helps in the collection of the laundry with your family.  I mean really you can’t say I didn’t see the laundry basket.  It’s clearly marked for all to see.  Finding ways to make your home work better but still have comfort and style is the order of the day.  All week I will be sharing ways to organize and store things in a Blue Happy way. Make it a Blue Happy week!!
