Blue Happy Travels & New Challenge

October 1, 2019

I’ve been on the road the past few days. I stepped into a new Challenge in celebration of October. The month of October is very special to me. It is the month that I took a stand and began to corrected the damage I had done with my food addiction for years.  New year and new challenges are ahead of me for sure.  I’ve told only a few people about this new challenge and now I’ll share it with you.

After my teacher retirement I went head on into busy Blue Happy business. We are still in Waco at Junky Monkey, BoHo Buffalo and Cameron Trading Co.  Recently we added Rustic Warehouse in Rockwall.  You will find me there most days as I have a work space in the warehouse work room.  If you stop by please ask the front desk if I’m around.  I’m loving this retirement life and can’t wait to get up each day to see what new creations come outta my head.

Blue Happy Restored Life represents so much more than restored creations.  It is also about me restoring my own health.  I’m really not sure there is a finish line for the project of restoring me.  It seems I reach one goal and then I find another way to challenge myself.  As teaching came to an end and year 7 was approaching I knew I wanted to start this year with a bang.  So here we go!  I’ve challenged myself to do a 5K in all 50 states.  I’ve put no order to the states I do this in, nor have I put a time line on it.  I’m just gonna travel around with Greg as he goes to different states for his work. There are only a couple of rules I will follow. I will not run in cold states during the winter months.  I do not like cold weather and I think winter is stupid.  Now that we have my complaining rules out of the way lets move on.  I was bless to have a couple of friends show up at the finish line to support me Jack and MaDonna are the sweetest people to get up that early and walk from the hotel in the cold. Yes Vegas had a cold front that morning it was 58 at the start of the race.

Where and when will I start?  I already started this past weekend in Nevada.  I ran the 5K for Vegas Strong to support the victims of the mass shooting at the concert 2 years ago on October 1st.  There are still so many in treatment for their injuries and families suffering from the death of a family member.  I ran a good time but I don’t want these 5K’s to be about my time.  I just want to do the races and finish one in all 50 states.  Some months I’ll to more than one race.  Some months I will skip as I said there is no time line put on this challenge.  I’m just looking forward to the travel and the experience of each charity the race support. I’ll blog about each race and share with you the photo’s.

The weekend was more than the race.  I had the privilege to spend time with Tilman Fertitta star of Billion Dollar Buy.  He also owns many businesses like Landrys Restaurants, Hotels and so much more.  This was his book launch for his new book called Shut Up And Listen! The information he shared will be important to Blue Happy as we move forward in a direction that is gonna be full of new horizons.   I’m amazed at the places and people I’m meeting this new journey is taking me.  Sometimes I really feel like I need to pinch myself to see if it’s all really real.  I’m love sharing all of this with Greg, my family and my Bestie Karen.  She is my calm to bring me back to earth when I go off that deep end.  Good or bad she keeps me grounded with very few words.

The weekend ended and we flew back to Dallas on Monday morning.  I hit the ground running with a trip to Doc’s to clean things out and back to my studio to organize my week.  So much happening over the next two weeks so off I go to follow my Blue Happy Dream.
