Simple Makeovers

November 1, 2019

I’m called all the time and ask “do you want this I need it gone:. Most of the time I know the people but sometimes it someone that got my name from a friend of a friend. How ever they got my name I’m happy to help them out. Most of the time it’s just a simple makeover and other times it’s a complete redesign to restore it. I have dug in the worst house just hours before the bull dozers knock it down. Hoarders houses are the best to find a treasure. By far my favorite is trash day and all the goodies I find on the curb.

Makeover one was from a text asking if I wanted a few things she was getting rid of. I love this lady and I love to watch her story. She is a 2 time cancer surviver and is living life the way we all should, like there is no tomorrow. I admire her and her spunky personality. She is never still and seems to have found a fountain of youth because she looks amazing. She offered me 3 things to redo and one of those is this great little table. The way it was really anyone could use it in their home as is but painting it and sanding it back gave it fresh look. How great would this be in a bathroom to sit all those bath products on and rolled up towels underneath.

Next up is a great little table I picked up at an estate sale one Saturday. When I bought it for next to nothing Greg gave me that raised eye brow look as if he thought I was crazy. The top was loose and broken with for sure repairs needed. When I went to put it in my truck the top fell to pieces. Greg just walked right past me and laughed. I had to fix it up and make it cute just so I could say “I told you so”. I got to do that this week. He hasn’t really said much other than “well you saved your butt on that one”. There are many projects that might make me look crazy but I always pull it out in the end. You can see where the top is glued because it shows the lines where the wood broke. I decided to embrace those flaws and make it part of the beauty. We all have flaws they are what make us who we are. I love that this little table can be so used so many ways. What about a plant stand anywhere in the house or what about an entryway table using that little shelf as a place to lay your phone and charge it. So many options for a table that was deemed trash by Greg.

Last but not least is a table that I bought from my old stomping grounds Doc Holliday’s. This table sat in the store as long as I was there for 4 years. Not sure if it was there from the beginning but I bought it at the end so it could move on to a restored life somewhere else. This makeover proves sometimes you don’t have to do much to make it new again. The table was already white, but did have lots of scratches and dings. I simple sanded the edges and scratches for a shabby chic look. I used Pure Pewter to paint the wood seats and table top. I used Defender to clear coat so those area would be protected. Just like that it has a more updated farmhouse look and ready for someones holiday.

No matter what you have it can be restored into something that is more your style. Changing one piece can make your home more comfortable. Changing that one piece can make your room complete or start you on a complete redo of your room or whole house. Grab some paint and a brush to start the refreshing of your home for the holiday’s.  Sorry no before photo’s of the second and third projects, my bad.
