New and Old It’s All Good

September 26, 2017

I’m sure you have all heard the news that Chip and Joanna Gains are moving on and the show will come to an end. The Silo’s, bakery and their construction company will continue as will all of their many business. You can go to Magnolia Market website and find the video of the announcement under the blog. Good for them, they are comfortable with where they are and want more time with their family. I’m sure this isn’t the last we will hear from them.

I love to see people find their way in life, follow their dreams and learn to stand in the moment of enjoyment. It’s refreshing to see. I for one need to learn a little bit about “you can’t do it all”. I just keep piling things on my plate day after day, week after week. Recently I have been giving it thought that maybe I should narrow things down and give my all to one or two things, not 5 or 10 things. The list of things I keep up with daily is a monster. My calendar looks like a book with several chapters. I’m not one of those people who think I’m getting older so I might need to slow down.  I don’t want to slow down I just want to have more time to give my all to those things that mean the most to me.  Trust me there are things that I need to pass on and doing this will surely crush my heart.  I’m a believer and know that God has a season for all that is in your life.  I’ve always trusted that to find the courage to let go when I know He is telling me to let go.  Who knew that 5 years ago when I was in the pit of an unhealthy life style I’d been here today.  That was one of the lowest places in my life.  I focused in on what I knew was my direction and here I am today 150lbs less and stronger than I’ve ever been in my life.  It took total dedication, pain, tears, will power and the list goes on.  I knew I wanted to make it to the finish line and make my dream come true. That is where I am with Blue Happy Living.  Greg and I have committed our retirement to this little tiny company that started at my kitchen table.  I would buy one piece of furniture redo it write a blog about it and then put it in a storage unit.  After about 12 months things started to pile up and that is when I went to Doc Holliday’s and opened my booth.  Now I redo at least 4 to 6 pieces a week and it’s hard to keep up with the sales at Doc’s.  I’m helping people redo pieces that have fallen apart but still have so much memory they want to keep it.  I’m able to help them refurb it to last many more years to be passed on. I’m teaching classes on how I do these things and want to make sure that everyone out there knows new isn’t always better.  Old is comfortable and good as well.

This week has been a busy week with lots of personal things going on and projects piling up.  I wanted to share a few of the things I have finished and put in my booth.  I do have a favorite this week and it has to be the tray I did for the class.  It holds many of the techniques I do with the furniture.  The sidewalk sale coming up on October the 14th  is going to be the biggest collections I’ve ever had at one sale.  I’m over 10 pieces in the collection right now and plans to finish up more.  I’m so excited and can’t wait to lay it all out that morning.  Maybe it will cool off and you can stroll through my booth and all the other venders that are coming.  When we get closer I’ll blog on some of those venders and all their goodies.  I hope you enjoy all the new project photo’s some are simple some more detailed but all done with Blue Happy love.
