My dusty house

July 30, 2015

I had a plan,  when school got out to gut,  remodel and finish my new master bathroom in 4 weeks.  Well it’s been all summer and the dusty mess is killing me.  We are in the final run and it’s going to be so worth it.

My bathroom was a bit 90’s with all its gold and white washed cabinets.  I really haven’t liked it from the day I moved in.  We have worked on the rest of the house because that is what people see the most.  When it came to our bathroom and bedroom waiting was something I have gotten use to.  Finally the hubs said, “let’s do it.”  We work together really well, but this time its been a struggle. He had something to say about the design! WHAT? I tried to put him off and make him think that my ideas were his ideas, but that didn’t work this time.  Okay time to compromise.

We made a plan – one that had his ideas as well as most of mine. Bahahaha! We have lived in our house for 5 years and neither one of us have ever gotten into the bath tub we aren’t tub folks.  So the tub was removed and never to return.  The cabinets  were a his and hers connected by a vanity to sit at to put on your make up.  Really who has time for that in the morning it’s toss and go for me.  We left the toilet room alone just did some wall repairs from a small leak.  The Shower that is another story we enlarged it to 4ft by 6ft.  It is like spa shower no door, no glass you just walk right in and shower.  Can’t wait to take my first shower.

Over the past week I have finished the cabinets they are  done just like my kitchen cabinets.  Tomorrow will be all about painting the walls.  Base boards will follow.  That leaves us with tile that will start on Saturday.  I get  so excited about remodeling when we get to this point.  It’s hard work but I like to do it myself.  I save money, it’s done the way I want it, and it’s a great feeling knowing we did it.

Hopefully next Thursday I will get to show you the finished pictures with more details.  After I give my whole house a good dust and clean the real fun will start.  I have all my decorative items waiting in boxes.  That’s the fun part putting on the finishing touches.

I love this time with my husband.  We have lots of good conversations while working side by side.  He is an amazing man.  He has to put up with all my crazy designs and ideas. He is such a big part of my Blue Happy!
