Road Trip

September 2, 2015

A few weeks ago I took a road trip that was so much fun. We traveled to Amarillo Texas with another couple Janice and David.  We got there a bit late on Friday evening and was greeted by our host for the weekend Glenda.

I wasn’t so sure about a trip to Amarillo it seemed boring and it was the last weekend before school started back. I really didn’t want to spend my last weekend off in some weird town.

Okay I had to eat my words because Amarillo was a blast. As I said we got there really late so we just hung around Glenda’s large condo. We had a glass of wine and snack on her terrace. When it was time to go to bed we were taken to a room that by far was as nice if not nicer then most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. I felt so important and so welcomed at the same time.

We got up early Saturday morning and after a good workout and a shower we hit the road. First stop was Cadillac Ranch a well known tourist attraction in Amarillo. I had heard about this place for many years but really never thought about it much. When we drove up I was so excited with my spray paint in hand I felt like running to the cars to paint. I wanted to make my mark, to leave a little art. I tagged a few cars with Blue Happy Living, Wylie Prep and Ethan’s name. I really didn’t want to leave but all the others in my party wanted to leave so off we went. We did stop at the gift shop for my t-shirt fix.

We had great food and time well spent together at lunch. We told stories on each other and remembered things from other trips. The waitress was a bit flirty with my husband and David. That was weird but still funny.

That night we went to see the musical called “Texas”. It was really great. Lots of music, dancing and color. The story line is great and its active until the very end. Parking stinks so if you go to this great show go early to get the best parking. If not you will walk in the dark and hope you don’t step on a snake. All that aside the show really is great to see. Again one of those things I had heard about for years and now I’ve seen it. So glad I went to see it because it was worth it.

After a long day we went back to the condo and spent more time with Glenda and our friends. It was a great weekend and I would love to go back to Amarillo again so that I could check out their shopping.

Vacations don’t have to be a long expensive trips at all. As long as you are having a great time and doing things that are fun and relaxing. I was so not looking forward to the drive there cause I’m not a great travel person but this drive was great. I saw lots of things I normally wouldn’t have seen. I felt like it was a Blue Happy trip. Hope you have a Blue Happy Day!
