The Puzzle Pieces Fit

October 8, 2015

About a year ago I found this round piece of wood on the corner just waiting for the garbage man. I really didn’t have an idea for it but I just couldn’t pass it up. I knew there was a purpose for it, I just needed to be inspired.

Recently, I sent my son to pick up some chairs I had bought online. While online getting the address I noticed another ad that said “free left overs from garage sale.” I sent him and his girlfriend by to dig through the left overs. Ali brought home a bowl of broken tiles. She left them in my garage and I noticed them. The tiles were so beautiful I wished they were mine. Little did I know these tiles would be puzzle piece number 2.

Puzzle piece number three came from an estate sale that I went to back in May of this year. I love old tiles and purchase them any time I find them. This tile is beautiful with all shades of blue and a bit of teracotta. I paid a whopping $1.

So how do all these pieces fit together? Well, let me tell you. I used the tiles on the round piece of wood. I placed the large tile I bought at the estate sale in the center. Then I placed the broken pieces all around it. On the edges I used penny white tiles so the wood would be completely covers. I finished it off with white grout.

Now you might think I was finished and it could be a large trivet or hot plate for the kitchen. I added one more part from Lowes Home Improvement store, a lazy Susan for the bottom. Now it’s complete.

I love it! It’s 50% trash finds, 25% estate sale barging and 25% new. This is one of my favorite pieces. I get a Blue Happy rush when I make something so beautiful from tossed out trash. My total cost $1 for the large tile and $11 for the lazy Susan part. So this little unique piece was $12.

How many things do you have that you don’t want? These things can be turned into something beautiful. It’s almost gift giving season think of something you can make new again and give as a gift. It will make your heart sing and make you Blue Happy.
