A Little Chest

November 10, 2015

Strolling through Rusty’s auction online I found this great little chest. So small but with so much potential if given a little bit of love.

It seemed like the time on this auction ran on forever. I was watching it like water, waiting for it to boil. The seconds ticked off so slow. I thought, “how is this possible I’m getting this for only $15?” I was right to wonder, at the last-minute it ran up to $20. I was not willing to let it go and my limit is $25 on any piece I buy. I took a chance and put in a bid of $21 then it went to $22. I had to put in $23 and again someone got me at $24. I bid $25 and held my breath, slowly the time ran out and I won the little chest.

I have had it now for a few weeks. It has set in the garage just in front of my car on a table. Everyday I have looked at it and had many thoughts as to what I should do with it. Should I do it whimsical, white or black. Should I leave the inside plane or should I paint it out. So many ideas but decided to wait until the creativity took over and I just started.

Well  creativity took over and I decided to give it a classic look with light gray  and worn edges. That way the little black lock showed up and could be appreciated. I added the stencils on top to give a little character and a little bird on the inside for a touch of surprise.   I made sure I gave it several clear coat layers and I painted the inside as well. Something seemed to be missing but I wasn’t sure as to what so I just left it for a while. This past weekend I went to Magnolia Market and I found a great little handle to add to the top. Now it’s finished and looks amazing.

Sometimes we rush into making decisions and don’t take the time to just be quiet and hear what we are being told. We do this in all aspects of our lives. We need to slow down and just take our time. If we do we might hear things we have never heard, see things we have never seen and enjoy what we might have missed. Living happily is a choice, living blessed is what we are all given and living life in ups and downs gives us strength and wealth beyond money and material things.

Be encouraged to slow your walk and enjoy life. Make every moment count and  a Blue Happy moment.
