Stopped In My Tracks

November 24, 2015

With lots to do today I was moving and running as soon as my feet hit the floor. I had no time to slow down and certainly no time to stop and read a text that stopped me in my tracks. That is what happened on this chilly morning in Texas.

An event in your life whether it be illness, job loss, car wreck or really anything should change you. Even if the event doesn’t turn out bad. Moments and events happen, disrupt and shock our reality. If we are only effected by the good, pleasing and cherished moments we become numb. We need to  learn from the bad things and appreciate the good things.

Today’s news made me cry and hope for the best outcome for this person. I took that moment to slow down and pray for my friend and their well-being.  I know that God has it all in His hands.  Weather or not we can see past the moment of bad news there is always tomorrow.  Leaning on faith is a must when our lives are effected by upset and turmoil.

With the holiday of Thanksgiving just hours away this event made me really stop and think even more what I’m thankful for.  So many things on my list, so many loved ones and so much life I’m giving thanks for.  I wish that I didn’t get so tied up in my busy life that I only think about these things during this holiday. I’m grateful for life but fall short to give thanks everyday.  Every year on new years we all make these silly resolutions for the new year, I do it as well.  This year starting with Thanksgiving I’m going to start a new tradition.  I’m going to make resolutions on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.  Might seem weird but for a person of faith to me this only makes sense.  For me these are holidays that my faith is strong felt and my thoughts are heavy with my faith.  So why not include thoughts of how we can empower our lives with resolutions that faith, prayer, and a sincere walk with Christ be the center of our lives.

My hopes for all in this Thanksgiving season is that you slow down and enjoy Thursday with the ones you love.  Step out of your comfort zone and show love to someone you don’t know or that you have had an issue with this year.  How powerful to forgive and give Thanksgiving to that person.  Let go of all your anger and frustrations  and believe in the gift of life.  How Blue Happy Thanksgiving can be if we just love and let be.  Have  a very Happy Thanksgiving.
