Success!

November 17, 2015

Today is the day that my students work for from the first day of the fall semester. The fall art show went off without a hitch tonight and I’m so proud to be their teacher.

Years ago when I graduated from High school I was firm on one thing I would NEVER be a teacher. God had a different plan and here I am teaching the most amazing kids art. I can’t tell you how great it is to watch these kids come into my class saying, “I can’t do art” then making art that is stunning.

Without knowing it art digs deep into their soul. Art allows kids to express what they really feel. In most schools today sports are dominate and a lot of kids do excel in sports. For those that don’t, art and music are a way for those kids to find a voice or a place to belong.

As a child my own experience with art was a way to cope, to express myself and it gave me an identity. I don’t remember wanting to be anything other than an artist. I said before that art for me is a passion, it’s how I breathe. Without art I’m sure I couldn’t exist. I love to teach art, I love the kids and I love that my life is so consumed with art. I’m truly blessed.

Not every kid that takes art will go off to college and become an artist. What they learn in art will always stay with them and someday they will use it in some way in their life. Maybe just to relax and paint or to help their kids someday with an art project. Art is something everyone can do, there is no right or wrong way to do it. Art comes from the heart.

I wanted to share with you a few pictures of these amazing kids. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did teaching them. Take this moment and let these kids art make you Blue Happy!
