San Antonio Back Where We Started

July 29, 2016

On our way to the birth place of us as a couple we seem to keep making pit stops here and there.  Driving by a certain DIY couples house was a great point for me! Then back on track to San Antonio , oh but first a quick drive over to Crawford. We didn’t see any of the Bush family and Crawford is like “don’t blink you’ll miss it” kinda town. Now we can say been there done that.

We arrived in San Antonio around 5:00 and checked into a fantastic room at the Wyndham. On the way out for the night we drove past the Bexar County Court House where we got our marriage lisence. They sent us to a JP’s office off Bandera Drive to get married. We got there planning on setting an appointment for the next day, but they had time so we got married right then. Why not!

Plans for the night, dinner at our favorite place to eat and shop, Mi Terra’s with the out door market. Yummy shrimp was on the menu and it didn’t disappoint. It was funny remember olds times and funny how we each remembered things. We both had opinions of how things happened, I’m sure my remembrance was the correct way. LOL

Our first apartment wasn’t anything special at all. Kinda old an shabby chic. I had no idea there was such a thing as shabby chic back then. We didn’t have much at all but we were in love. The apartments are all fixed up now and sadly our Air Base is gone. We were stationed at Brooks. It’s now a place they call City-Base. They took down most of the buildings and replaced them with store’s  and fast food joints. There is a community college at one end. Kinda sad because it was a beautiful base with large trees and a family feel.

Next stop was Lackland Air Force Base. I worked here for a bit in the rental center. One of the most important events in our lives happened here at Wilford Hall Medical Center. On July 21st 1987 Heather was born 29 years ago. Seems like yesterday as I pass the hospital. I remember holding her for the first time and thinking how beautiful she was. I couldn’t believe she was mine.

Now it’s lunch and we are off to meet up with friends from Dallas that are here as well. We’ve got antique shopping planned, lunch and dinner plans. Tomorrow we leave San Antinio to go to Fredricksburg for more antique shopping and a wine tour. Looks like my weekend is full hope your is Blue Happy as well.
