Renewing for a Colorful Future

August 4, 2016

On my trip to San Antonio to celebrate my anniversary a month late I did some junk shopping. I lovingly call it junk because most of the things I do start as junk then I transform them into a treasure. Most of my finds are on their last leg and are in need of great repair, but this little find was not so bad and didn’t need any repairs just an update and some color.

My dear friend Rosa had planned out several stores for us to shop from. She did a great job because I think I bought at every stop. At the last store of the day before we headed off to dinner I found the sweetest little cabinet. It was very dirty and very dark. I picked it up as soon as I saw it. These little cabinets are great for many things. You could place this at the back door to organize keys, mail or school things. It would also be great to put on top of your dryer to store dryer sheets, utility items and even as a desk organizer. Keeping things up and off the work surface is what makes your day running smoothly.

As I said no repairs needed for this little guy but a paint job was greatly needed. I used Valspar Project spray paint. I wanted to match it up with the bulletin board I did a few weeks ago so out came the orange. I decided it needed a pop of something extra so I painted the inside of the little drawer light teal blue. Quotes are important because they are reminders of what is important for us to remember. I love this quote, just wish I could not get so tied up in going the distance and enjoy my journey. I didn’t change the hardware at all the wood knob on the front is for purpose and not attention. The leaf and the butterfly well they were just speaking to me so I added them in. The sanded edges give it a worn but loved look and I added numbers in black to each cubbie to complete this piece. Now it’s renewed from its past and has a colorful future.

Most of the furniture and decor items I redo just need new purpose to be recycled into usable items for the future.  Purpose, without it we are lost. We need to find purpose in our lives. We all need to fill our day with events and things that move us forward and not keep us in the past. While the past is good to revisit in our memories it’s not good if your life is held there as your future passes you by. Giving attention to those things in our past that hurt us only allows the past to steal our present and future. Grow beyond what is past so you can create a future that is colorful. Have a beautiful Blue Happy Thursday the eve to your weekend.
