Willing To Go That Extra Mile

April 11, 2017

If I’m involved in something I have a passion for it. I really don’t do anything half way and I certainly don’t do anything that I’m not passionate about. I have such a great appreciation for time and life. Wasting time seems pointless. Being a good steward of my time and the life I’m blessed with is truly a passion for me.

My passion for creating runs deep in me. My soul needs to create to feed that passion. Without my art I’m sure but I might dry up and blow away. I can’t explain the feeling I get when my head is in full creative mod. It’s almost like I have an addiction and it has to be fed. When I get an idea it truly eats at me until I pull it out. Pulling out means I have to see it come to life on paper, canvas or with a piece of furniture. The only burden is that I don’t have enough time in my day to get to all of the idea’s. That is why I always have a sketch book to jot things down. This helps my head calm down and my soul be fed.

Sometimes my passion can get me in trouble or in a spot where others around me are asking “What in the world”. That happened this weekend at an estate sale. Greg and I noticed there was a sale just about 2 blocks from out house. Greg went on Friday while I was at school and he told me about this table saw. We have a table saw but it’s very small and we needed to up grade but just haven’t done it. On Saturday we went to the sale and I loved the saw. Greg did his magic and we snagged a $145 saw for $65. Used yes but it has many more years and hours left in it. We found out the man who lived there was a master carpenter. I got to look at a few of the things in his home he built. He really had a gift because his furniture was amazing. I’m so glad I have his saw and love the history behind it.

Now here is where I made people sit up and start watching me. We bought the saw and Greg drove around to the garage to load it. THIS SAW IS HEAVY! The two men at the sale offered to help load it but then what do we do when we get home? I looked at Greg and said follow me. He didn’t even make a face or blink an eye. The two men at the sale said you’re gonna show up on YouTube you know and then they laughed and laughed and laughed. Off I went to roll this new/old saw home to my work shop. Yes I pushed it all the way home 2 blocks and it was mostly up hill. LOL sounds like my parents telling me “I walk to school 10 miles in the snow and rain all up hill”. I’m sure anyone of you over 40 have heard that line in your life. Never the less I have a bigger table saw that is gonna rock some awesome projects for Blue Happy.  As I rolled it home I left behind many odd looks with lots of strange face’s being made.  I didn’t really care at least I gave them something to talk about on Saturday afternoon. I’m not the only strang thing out there to watch. We saw this at a garage sale right after I rolled my saw home. It was a man coming to the sale dressed this way. I didn’t ask I didn’t wanna know.

Passion isn’t meant to be put on a back burner. If you have a hearts desire you need to follow it. Sometimes we have a passion and we don’t follow it because our life doesn’t allow it to be followed full-time. We do have to be good steward’s and take care of our family and financial responsibilities. That doesn’t mean we can’t work in an hour or two to explore our passion. Doing something is better than doing nothing. The worse thing that can  happen to you is you get to the end of your life and say should have, would have, could have. How sad to not follow the desire God plants in your heart. I’m sure I could make way more money, have more material things and not have to work as hard but, would I be happy? I know the answer to that question and it’s no I would not be happy. Art and creating is so rewarding. Finding a saw used by a master craftsman at a great price fuels my passion and makes me Blue Happy! Follow your passion, press forward to what is calling you and make sure you make the time. Soon your will find more than enough time to make your passion one of the most important things in your life.
