Madness

May 21, 2018

I don’t even know where to start.  This past 3 weeks has had me so overwhelmed with all that has happened.  I guess I should start right where the madness began. Well I can’t go all the way back to the beginning of school but it all lead up to 3 weeks ago with the school art show.  I’m the lone ranger when it comes to setting that baby up.  Not because no one will help me, many offer.  I’m a control freak.  I like to know how the show is set up, you know the set up I envision in my head.  These kids work so hard and they deserve to have a day to show off for all to see their work.  We invite several other schools to be a part of the show, judging and celebration.  So much talent poured over in this show and it’s clear these kids are talented.

As soon as the art show was over and all the art was returned I started gearing up for art camp.  Art camp at Wylie Prep is a big deal every year.  It marks the end of the school year, the start of summer and more fun than you can imagine.  We have a paint slide, bucket sling, paint fight (water gun style), lots of art projects and we end the week with a drive by art show.  The campers line the sidewalk holding up their favorite art from the week and the parents drive by and look at it all.  It’s a great way to end the week.

On Tuesday just as art camp started my phone went off.  I knew when I saw who the caller was my Waco store was empty.  I was right all large items gone only a few small items left.  I knew I couldn’t get there until Saturday so I just had to put it out of my mind and enjoy art camp week.  That is hard for me knowing my store was empty and messy.  I couldn’t wait until Saturday morning so Greg and I could go and fix it.  We arrived just as the store opened, loaded up the shelves and got out-of-the-way of the customers.  We left had a great lunch hit a few estate sales and returned to Cameron’s Trading.  Greg stayed in the truck, but not for long because he had to come in and help me.  While we were gone that hour and a half over half of the booth was sold.  I had to get creative on how to place things to make it look full.  Looks like I’m back in Waco on Thursday.

Today was the first day of summer vacation for me.  I enjoyed messy hair, saw dust all over me and no makeup while I created a few new items in my studio space.  On top of my Waco store needing items Doc Holliday’s Blue Happy was near empty as well.  This week is going to be all about a reload and stocking both stores to the top.  Today I finished this amazing piece that could be used in almost any room in the house, bathroom, bedroom, entry, mud room or a laundry room.  It has so much potential for the home.  The other piece is also multifunctional in an entryway, guest room or as a piece under your large television.  I love doing pieces that are multifunctional and multipurpose.

Tomorrow brings a stack of small tables I plan on getting done and dividing between my two stores.  I can’t wait to get started on them and see what creative things happen.  Tomorrow is a very special day it’s my Birthday!!! I have a great day planned and my blog will be special as well.
