My Summer Creative State of Mind

May 28, 2018

Only one week from the ending of art camp and already my creative brain is filling up. I spent the day going through my stash and pulling out things that inspired me. So many goodies I forgot I had in my stash. One of those things was an old rocking chair that I can’t wait to get my hands on. It’s in need of a arm repair but it will be restored to a beautiful piece of artwork. This one is gonna be a bit quirky and artsy.

I finished several pieces this week. No sooner were they finished and Cameron Trading in Waco called. My little store was in need of a refill. We were just there on Thursday and filled it up and back on Sunday to fill it up again. I’m not complaining I know this is all a blessing.

No more did I finish loading up the Waco store Doc Holliday’s in Wylie was in need of a load up as well. Seems I’m chasing my tail these days. The truth be told I love this. I love when I go to Doc’s and it looks empty. I love that my restored items are filling the homes of those shopping from Doc Holliday’s. Just around the corner is the DOC HOLLIDAY’S SIDEWALK SALE JUNE 9th.  I’m pulling out all the stops with more items than ever before.  I’m also going to be offering a BIGGER DISCOUNT ON A FEW SPECIAL ITEMS.  I’ll have things for the patio and porch, dinning room, storage and organizing.  Many items will be one of a kind that I’ve not shown before.  This one is gonna be big y’all.  No matter the weather inside or out Blue Happy Living will be having a blowout sidewalk sale.  If it rains just use the sidewalk to walk on in.

Today I found myself truly happy about having time to create things that are piled up in my head.  As an artist this happens often and when I don’t have time to pull it out and act on it, well I get a bit down.  When I say down it’s not like depressed it’s just an overwhelming feeling that I need to create but can’t.  Living with an artist can be hard. I’m blessed with a husband that will drop what he is doing, cancel plans and help me fulfill my creative ideas.  I do get funny looks sometimes followed by what in the world are you doing now, but in the end he can see my vision.

Blue Happy Living is moving in a good and blessed direction and  I’ve renewed my contract to teach next year with Wylie Prep.  I’m for once enjoying my summer without having to recover from surgery.  My routine of working out in the mornings will stay the same.  That means plenty of time to create and start my day in my studio at 7am as soon as I get home from the gym.  Greg and I have lots of travel plans this summer.  We do have a big surprise for one “The man dog” Waco.  When we go on one of those planned vacations he is off to K-9 school to learn some manners. The other 2 will lounge at home with a sitter and enjoy just being the 2 of them again.  It’s only a week Cherry and Cooper don’t get to comfortable.
