Showing My Underwear

February 18, 2019

One of the hardest parts of my restored life journey to get healthy has been the clothing. You love when your clothing gets loose. If feels so good to put on that pair of jeans that was once so tight it made marks on your skin but now its big. It was easy to drag out buying new clothing you kinda liked wearing things that showed off your progress. The one thing I couldn’t get away with letting things sag was in the underwear area. I mean OMGOSH! When your underwear is so big it rides up on your butt checks it’s time for a change. I’ll be honest when Greg and I got married we were so broke I was just glad to have Walmart packaged underwear. As I gained weight I really didn’t think about undergarments I just dressed as quick as I could so I didn’t have to look at myself. Most of my underwear was worn out and can you say granny panties. LOL! As I lost weight I had to go find new undergarments. I was not sure where to go other than back to the package kind. 2 years ago, Yes thats right I waited 4 years to stop wearing my old baggy underwear. I was ask to be in a fashion show sponsored by Soma. I was given underwear to wear with the clothing and that is when I realized there is a difference in package underwear and nice underwear. I had never in my life bought this kind and I wanted more. So from that moment on I was and will always be a Soma wearing underwear girl.

Now what in the world to I do with all those baggy underwear just left in a box in my closet? Well they became staining rags I could use and toss out. So this is me showing off my underwear. I know the title of the blog implies so much more. One of the most popular things in furniture refinishing these days is a stained top and a painted base. This is one of my most favorite ways to restore a piece and dining tables are at the top of the list. I love to take a table that has no chairs and find other pieces I can add to it. A few chairs to make benches and an couple of other chairs to add to the end makes for one beautiful piece.

A few weeks ago I did just that. I took a table from a Rusty’s auctions, chairs from the side of the road for benches and 2 chairs from an estate sale. It all added up to one beautiful restored piece. I was so afraid that the way the table was made on the ends would cause it to be a slow sell. Nope once it hit the floor at BoHo Buffalo it sold in just 3 days. I guess I was wrong. Making things new from what is just given up on is so important to me. I love to repurpose things that really don’t have any purpose to anyone but the trash truck. Restoring furniture is my form of art these days and I couldn’t be any happier and so is my hinny in my Soma underwear.
