Making Changes Part 1

July 24, 2019

I’m forever changing things up. Moving things around and making what seems to be a better way of living. Recently I’m bored with my own living space and it’s time to change things up. This is how I go about making those changes so that it all works. First I let Greg know about my plans. I get the look and the ok whatever. That lets me know he is willing to put up with my idea or at least entertain the idea. Until I hear that one thing that stops me in my track. From the far side of the house I here “hey I’ve got an idea”. Well great, he wants to have an opinion as to how this change up will go down.

First up the all dreaded fire place in my house. If money was no option it would be completely removed and done aways with. We don’t even use it never have and never will. So unless someone knocks on my door and hands me $30k it will stay. I’ve decided to give it a makeover and learn to love it. Who knows maybe we will use it this winter. Right now it’s the same brick as the outside of my home. Not in love with that brick. It had it’s day in the early 90’s but now it’s way past it’s bedtime. I plan on white washing the brick. Well that is the plan on paper right now, but like I’ve said before creative plans can change. I’m going to rebox the mantle with old wood and install a new grill on the fire box. New artwork will dress the mantle and chimney.

Next up will be the wall behind the TV. I plan on painting this wall with an accent color. Not sure just what color yet but it will be darker and bolder. The artwork will come down and the buffet under the TV will go away. A new larger one will be in it’s place. I love having this buffet it is where I keep all my winter gloves, scarves, extra bags and purses. Might seem odd but it’s a great way to clear space in your closet of things you only use ever so often. Now this is where Greg put his two cents in to my creative idea. He went out and bought a 75inch TV. Yes, your eyes didn’t miss it I said a 75inch TV. We have a 2300 square foot home now most of the main wall in the house will be a TV. Really! I guess we need that as we get older we will be able to see it.

The new buffet will also be a big surprise that I’m gonna hold onto. It will be a bit of a shock with the color Ive picked. I’m also going to add a few extra’s to the sitting area in this half of the room. I’m trying to make this more of a room that expresses my quirky personality without shocking Greg. He’s pretty much use to my quirkiness at this point so maybe I will get away with all of this.

My plan is to have the buffet finished up and ready for Friday’s blog. It’s almost done and I can’t wait to share it with you. Once I’m done in the family living area I’m on to the dining room to change up things there as well. Again I’ll have to deal with that fireplace because it’s a double sided monster in the center of my home. Worse design ever but I didn’t notice when we looked at the home. I was drawn to the backyard which by the way will be after the dining room makeover. So stay tuned there will be 3 parts to this family room quirky makeover blog.
