2 For 1 Tuesday

October 27, 2015

With the holidays coming up quick it’s time to get your guest bathroom ready for your guests. How nice it would be when they got ready for bed they found a nice plush robe hanging on a hook. Attached is a note that reads “Please enjoy this plush robe while you stay”. Or maybe a note that reads “Please feel free to hang your night clothing here while you stay”. Either way they will feel welcomed in your home.

I found this wood sign in a box of items I bought at www.rustybydesignauction.com (I love Rusty’s). When I divided the cost of the box by all the items this little wood sign was $1 and such a deal. I painted over it with black chalk paint, gave it the worn look and stenciled a great flower in light gray. I gave it 2 coats of clear finish to protect it from moisture in the bathroom. I added the wood frame .79 and the word Dream $2.49. The final touch was the dragon-fly hook $3.99 for the robe or PJs. In total I spent $10 that includes a bit for paint and clear coat. What a great idea and you can find these little wood signs all over at garage sales, auctions, thrift stores and even just use old wood you already have.

I said it was 2 for 1 Tuesday so here is a great little find and project I did a year ago. Sorry I don’t have the before picture I did this project with only fun in mind and not a blog.

I was at an estate sale and they had a pile of odds and ends that really no one wanted.  I pulled out an old door front that was pretty weathered and worn. It still had the handle on the front. I brought it home and used chalk paint in this great teal color but it seemed really bright. I added a coat of brown wax to tone it down and give it an older look. I attached saw tooth hangers to the back, one on each side so it had more support. The perfect place for this is hanging next to your sink in a bathroom or laundry room. The handle is perfect for hanging a hand towel.

These projects are small but are great, usable and decorative items. I loved making them both. I get really Blue Happy when I find leftovers and make it into something usable and cute. Look around your home and see what left movers you have that can be made into something fantastic. Go make some Blue Happy items.
