Round and Round We Go

October 28, 2015

Storage is something that makes me tingle all over. I love the container store and if I ever won a million dollars I would be running to that store. I’m on a budget and I have to find ways to store things in my home that are cheap but have a touch of decor. This little project does just that.

Like I told you yesterday I bought a box of  items from www.rustybydesign.com and this wood cheese box was in the bottom of the box. Someone had used it and taken the time to paint a cute little design on it, but it needed an update.

I used chalk spray paint in a teal color it only required 2 light coats to cover. This paint is great because it was so quick to apply and quick to dry. I used stencils on top with light gray paint to give it an updated look. Birds are so big right now. I thought that the teal color was a bit bright so I watered down black chalk paint and brushed it all over, let it set for about 2 minutes then wiped it off. That did the trick it calmed down the brightness and aged it a bit. Inside the box I used some old scrapbook paper to line the bottom of the box. I used 3 different papers with Mod Podge to seal it to the bottom.

There are so many ways this box could be used! One of my favorite ways is for toilet paper in the bathroom. It keeps it out-of-the-way and free of dust. You can leave it near the toilet for a quick grab but it has a pretty look.

I have lots of serving trays and  if I’m honest, maybe too many. There is always that one thing that even an over organizer collects and for me it’s serving trays. I love the idea of storing these trays in a decorative box when you aren’t using them. That way you keep your cabinets nice and tidy. You could even place it on a shelf other than in the kitchen and no one would be the wiser they would just think it was a pretty box.

I could go on and on about this little box and all that it could be used for but I’ll let your imagination take over. It’s a little box that offers a lot of Blue Happy storage. Go box up some Blue Happy!
