Decoratively Organizing The Studio

January 7, 2016

So the walls are up and the floors are in, now the move in. I wanted to make sure that I had lots of storage for all my supplies. What I didn’t want was a store-bought storage unit or ugly plastic shelf. I wanted vintage, old, shabby chic and functional all wrapped up in a decorative way.

It was important for me to find things that fit with the old doors, pallet clad walls and recycled wood floors. I started shopping months ago at auctions, garage sales and thrift stores. I found lots of things that would be great for storage. I love to have my work space organized so that I know where everything is. I DO NOT LIKE TO LOOK FOR ANY THING! That statement is in all caps because it is important for me to function. So I set out on my goal to decoratively organize my new studio space.

I found a few boxes that had 9 cubbies per box which are great for my small bottles of different types of paints. I have a lot of paint bottles and these will be great to organize them by type and color. I have 2 of these wood boxes on one side of the studio and 3 on the other side. I found some old wood crates and attached them to the wood walls. Turning one up and one sideways to store larger cans and bottles of products I use all the time. The way to hang them was to make it like an art piece. That is where the decorative part comes in. I can’t wait to fill these shelves up with all my goodies.

At one of my favorite auctions rustybydesignauction.com I found this great metal corner shelf. It fit in the corner on the back wall just great. I will use it for supplies and special things that make me happy when I look at them. There are so many more great vintage ideas I have used in this little space. Like the Mirror that is a permanent part of the wall covering. I love to have a mirror in my studio because I’m always getting paint on my face. I don’t know it and run out to do an a few things and get a lot of weird looks.

I’m so excited to share my sweet little studio with you on Friday. It really is a dream come true, a vision realized and my hopes fulfilled. I hope that you will enjoy reading about it as much as I have enjoyed blogging about it and working on it. I hope that today finds you Blue Happy and smiling.
