Picking Up The Bits and Pieces

November 8, 2018

It’s no secret I make table sets from bits and pieces I collect. A chair or two here, a bench base over there and oh there’s a great set of chairs to add to the other set. It all works with new paint in a beautiful color. I posted yesterday I was struggling with a table set the past few weeks. I just couldn’t wrap my head around what to put together to finish it out. Well I’ve come to an agreement with my crazy creative head. I shared the two end chairs yesterday. They were very ornate and had a round high barrel back. Not easy to put with anything else, but I found 2 chairs that would work.

These two chairs had a big challenge ahead because the seat was wood like the end chairs but the back and legs were black. Not easy to make that blend with all wood items that are sanded back. I had to softly sand back the edges and that wasn’t so easy to do because I use an electric sander. I had to make sure I sanded deep enough to get to the wood under the black to show through. I had to make sure I didn’t lean and sand to much of the white on the side so the black showed through. It was a tricky sanding moment.

Well it all worked out and these chairs came out stunning. They will be added to the table set on Friday. Also added will be a bench for the side of the table.  I can’t wait to share it with you on Fridays Blog.  The table is beautifully set by Junk Punk Haus and Love and Rust. It’s ready for the holiday’s and serving a beautiful meal.  Saturday is the sidewalk sale and so many venders at Doc’s have loaded up their booths with Christmas items.  Many venders are having sales so that means savings for you and your holiday budget.  Junk Punk Haus has the clearance table this week.  She has loaded it with so many great deals.  She even has items that are 50 cents.  Dishes you will love added to your serving set for Christmas.

On Saturday I will be teaching a class at Doc’s from 10-12.  The class is a chalk painting class and we will be doing a pantry/closet box.  It is yours to keep after you finish.  I’ve added wheels so you can access it easy from your pantry or closet.  These boxes organize the bottom of your closet and make under bed storage easy.  The class is $25  and space is limited. You need to go to the Doc Holiday Emporium Facebook page and buy your ticket.  Snag yours spot quick. Hope to see you Saturday!!!
