A Small Table Redo With a Big Impact

July 22, 2015

I love a deal!!! When I saw this little table it was really ugly with all its cracked purple paint it was hard to see the jewel.  I did notice it was cheap cheap cheap!  So I thought okay it’s $2 so if I can’t make it look good I’ve only lost a couple of bucks.  I paid the lady tossed it in the back of my trusty little Kia Soul and away I went home.  I’m sure I stopped at other G-sales lol I can’t just pass them up not in my nature.

First thing I did was sand it down it needed it because I’m sure it was left outside because the paint was cracked and peeling.  I used chalk paint – 2 coats in a dark gray.  As always I wanted to age it so I sanded the edges and corners for a worn look.  I applied 4 clear coats because I knew I was going to use it on my patio.

It looked too plain it needed something.  I went to Lowes to look at tile to put on top of the table.  I didn’t see any tile I liked but I did like the samples of the wood floor they offered.  I gathered a few of the colors I liked, they were cheap about .25 a piece.  I came home and played with the placement a bit.  Once I found the way I liked I glued them in place with wood glue and filled the spaces between with wood fill.  I finished it off with 4 clear coats to protect it.

This little table is often talked about by visitors to our patio.  The cost of it all was about $10 from start to finish.  It’s small but has a big Blue Happy place on our patio.
