All Dressed Up For Fall

September 14, 2015

If you know me you know that the heat of summer is my favorite time of the year. I’m a pool gal and I love the sun and yard work. I do love me some summer but I also love fall. The colors are so vibrant and the cooler weather puts a pep in my step.

Every spring I fill my porch with pots of beautiful flowers. I love having my entry way welcome my guest in a bright cheery way. I will say by this point the Texas heat has gotten to my flowers and the porch is in need of a pick me up.

Bring on the fall decor! So I decided to dress my front porch with colorful bright decor so that it’s welcoming and ready to welcome the first day of cool weather.

I started by clearing out the flowers and plants that had wilted from the Texas heat.  I cleaned away all the debri from the porch floor and dusted the pillows on my bench.  Now the fun happens I first added my mums and other flowers with fall colors making sure they had all the right things to make them grow.  I like mums because they are hardy and easy to keep going through the fall weather.

Once I placed the mums I added the fall signs in the pots along with a little scarecrow.  I had most of these are from clearance at the end of the last season.  Hobby Lobby has great deals and I paid pennies on the dollar.  I added a few silk flower sprigs to give  more color to the mums since they haven’t quiet bloomed fully yet.

Pumpkins were in order for the flower pot by the door just below the doorbell.  This is a great way to say hello to my guests.  Most all my flower pots and flower stands came from a garage sale or estate sale.  I love finding things that no one wants any more.  I like to bring them home and give them new life with spray paint or just leave them as is so they tell a story of how long its been around.

I don’t like a lot of fuss on my front door I like to keep it simple.  I bought this sign Happy Fall a few years ago.  When I’m not using it I hook it on a hanger and put it just inside my coat closet by the front door.  I finished off my make over by placing a new door mat at the door.  I got it at Lowes and its Eco friendly as it’s made from old tires.  Love to make things look good with items that would have been dumped into landfills.

I love my little porch it makes me Blue Happy.  How you come into your home can make a difference on how you feel in your home.  No matter the size of your porch giving it a spruce up for fall can make you and your family Blue Happy. Go Be Blue Happy!

      1. I love fall for the color alone. Spring and summer colors are amazing but the richness of the fall colors speak to me as an artist. The best is when the trees turn colors.
