Creative Studio

September 10, 2015

My studio is well underway so I wanted to give you an update. We have had a few bumps but the walls are up and the roof will go on this weekend. Although we have hit a bump or two we should be finished by the end of the month.

I’m so excited to have a place to be creative and work with all my supplies in front of me. I love the light that will poor in through the windows on all the doors. You will notice there are a lot of doors but they all do not open. I decided a long time ago to make the walls out of old doors. I loved the idea because one it rescued old doors from going to the landfill and two it gives me so much light pouring in to work by. I collected them from trash piles and also I bought a few in an auction.

There will be one solid wall in the back of the studio and on that wall will be a transit window I found in an auction for next to nothing. French doors will finish off the walls so that I can open it up on those nice Texas spring and fall days.

My husband Greg, friends John and Tim, and my son Dallas have all worked so hard on this new studio. They are doing this all out of love. There is no pay other than  free drinks and a free lunch or dinner. I’m such a blessed girl to have these wonderful men in my life. They have always been supportive of all my crazy ideas and art projects. My BFF Karen lovingly loans me Tim on the weekend. I’ve dragged her into a lot of crazy things and places in the name of art.

All of the inside of the studio will be decorated with reclaimed items. The walls will be lined with wood reclaimed from old pallets I have picked up off the roadside. The tables, shelves and chairs have all been grabbed up on trash day. I want to work in a place that inspires me and old junk inspires me.

I look forward to sharing with you next Thursday an up date on the studio. It is going to be so amazing and full of creative ideas you could use in your own home and space. I’m so over the moon Blue Happy about my new studio. I hope that you will be inspired to make things and changes that will make you oh so Blue Happy!
