One Year Ago, The NICU

February 6, 2018

Saturday just 30 minutes after I got home from the 5K race Lyla’s birthday party took place at our house. I stayed up the night before and prepared all of the food so I didn’t have to worry.  I left my house clean, food ready and my gift all bagged up and sitting on the table.  When I arrived Dallas and Ali where decorating in yellow and black.  Lyla likes a character on the Wiggles show that wears those colors.  The house looked cute and the pink smash cake was adorable.

Around 1:00 family and friends gathered to celebrate this sweet little bugs birthday.  A year a ago she was in the NICU as a premie born 6 weeks early.  They were told she would be there 6 weeks until her due date.  This little bug surprised all when she went home just a couple of weeks later.  She has been none stop from that day on.  She is already standing and not holding on, she can get to most anything she wants and don’t even try to be slow at feeding her.  What a blessing Greg and I have now with one grandson and 2 granddaughters.  We love every minute of being their LolliPops.

Ali and Dallas are vegetarians so the food served was all vegetarian except for the one dish of chicken salad.  We meat eaters have to have something special as well.  Ali was very concerned about all the diet restrictions so she opted for gluten-free chocolate chip cookie for the guest.  We all ate, laughed and had such a good time.  I wish these babies wouldn’t grow up so fast.  Just yesterday my sweet little Ethan was born and now he is 6 and soon to be 7.  My life is so very blessed I just want it to slow down so that I can enjoy it.  I’m praying about how to slow down and live in the moment that I’m standing in.

My little Lyla bug will soon be walking and talking.  Trust me she has the squeal down pat.  We get to hear that often around the house.  Summer is just around the corner and she loves the pool so I look forward to many weekends with her in the pool.  I’m thankful for these babies in my life.  What a Blue Happy life I get to live.
