Get Your Bargains

January 12, 2016

I love a deal! It makes my heart beat faster when I get something that is mark down or on sale.  But there is NO rush like the one you get at an estate sale, garage sale or an auction.  If you love vintage, old and shabby chic then you have to start going to these sales.  It is a shoppers dream to find a goodie then find out that great price on the ticket is now 75% off.  Be still my little heart so I can check out before they change their minds.

I love to get up early on a Saturday and hit the road to estate sales.  In the spring garage sales will also be in full swing so I hit a few of those as I work through my route of estate sales.  I don’t go to buy just to fill up my car I always have a purpose and a plan.  Sometimes you do find things you aren’t looking for but it fits your home and you snag it up.  This past Saturday I went out looking for a new piece of furniture to add to my family room.  Didn’t find it but did find a great chair for my pool side.  It matched perfectly to our sun lounge chair we got last year at a sale.  Great things was the price only $10. Wait no it was now 75% off so now it was $2.50 heavens to Betsy I hit pay dirt.  I love when that happens I’ll add a cushion and it will be perfect for the summer.

As we worked our way through the sales Greg and I have great conversations in the car.  It’s like a Saturday morning date.  Most Saturdays we always end up at lunch and spending the day just he and I.  I love those days no rushing, no real plans just talking giggling and making future plans together.  We ended our day at a sale in Highland Park one of the older nicer areas of Dallas.  I didn’t see much because the sale was coming to an end. They were offering that amazing number of 75% off so I had to look.  Greg headed off to the garage because that is what he always does first I hit the kitchen.  On the table in this small but full of character home sat a set of serving dishes that I just had to have.  They are made in Germany by Rosenthal, white and just beautiful.  No chips, no stains and no damage!  At Christmas I noticed a few of my dishes have seen better days and need to be replaced.  So this next week I will be reorganizing my cabinets because that’s on my to do list and putting these sweet dishes in my stock of pretties.

When I go to find estate sales I always go to an app on my phone called estatesales.net it is great for any area or state.  It is a great way to find the best sales in your area.  The sales are run by professional estate sale companies.  It also list auction that are in your area.  There is no reason to pay full price for anything your need or want you just need to do a little foot work to save money.  I found one more deal on Saturday it was this beautiful home-made afghan for a baby.  It will come in handy in the fall, more news on that later.  I hope you find many Blue Happy bargins and fill your home with love.
